WEBSITE IS LIVE!
The Cripping Art Virtual Holiday Market.

Disabled artists are often shut out of in-person markets because of inaccessibility, high fees, crowded spaces, and a lack of masking, which makes these events unsafe for many disabled and immunocompromised people.

IN HONOR OF ALICE WONG
We, disabled artists and organizers, created space for ourselves and came together to build the space we need — for us, by us.

Instead of supporting big businesses, choose to support INDEPENDENT DISABLED ARTISTS who are among the most vulnerable right now and are still creating powerful work.

Shop the market!
Share the link and this post! Support disabled artists today!

[image Description: Illustrated poster for the Cripping Art Virtual Market with the headline “Freedom Through Creativity.” A painted banner reads “In honor of Alice Wong.” At the center is an illustrated disabled person in a wheelchair, wearing a ventilator mask, shown in rich blues and purples. Surrounding them are floating ice cream cones and abstract brushstrokes in teal, green, and violet. A quote on the right reads: “If we love fiercely, our ancestors live among and speak to us through these incandescent filaments glowing from the warmth of memories.” — Alice Wong. On the left is a QR code labeled “Scan to view.” At the bottom, bold text says “See the Art!!” and a short link to the virtual market website appears below. The overall style is vibrant, painterly, and celebratory.] by @diyabled

Voting Tip Friday! Track your mail-in ballot with BallotTrax.

WHAT IT IS
A free tool from the NC State Board of Elections. It tracks your absentee ballot from when it’s printed and mailed to you, to when your county board receives and accepts it.

HOW TO SIGN UP
Go to northcarolina.ballottrax.net (LINK IN BIO)
Create an account. Choose email, text, or voice alerts.

WHAT IT CATCHES
BallotTrax will flag issues like a missing signature or witness information. If it’s a fixable issue, your county board will tell you how to correct it.

Reminder: missing/wrong witness or notary signatures and an unsealed envelope can’t be fixed
THOSE BALLOTS WILL BE REJECTED

WHEN TO SIGN UP
As soon as you request your absentee ballot. BallotTrax becomes active 30 days before Election Day.

Today @wheelchairsportscamp and @gaelynnlea are playing Asheville! These are two amazing disabled artists that will blow your minds as they entertain you. It's at 6PM for free at UNCA.

It will be living proof that disabled people are in community, belong in it, and we will never leave. ✊🏾♿🎵

[image description: Collage-style tour poster on a crinkled blue paper background. Crumpled white paper clouds at the top read “The Kalyn & Gaelynn tiny mountain tour.” Below, cardboard cutout mountains sit between two hand-drawn figures in wheelchairs with photo-cutout faces: on the left, a person in a cap and headset mic, orange top, and blue pants; on the right, a smiling person with a flower in their hair and a purple dress, playing violin. A tiny drummer in a pink cap plays red drums in the center. Text reads “Wheelchair Sports Camp + Gaelynn Lea.” A cardboard panel lists October 2026 dates: 5–7 Blacksburg, VA (Virginia Tech); 8 Davidson, NC (Davidson College); 9 Asheville, NC (UNC Asheville); 10 Atlanta, GA (Eyedrum); 11 Nashville, TN (The Bassement); 13 Salem, VA (Roanoke College); 14 Greensboro, NC (UNC Greensboro); 18 Ann Arbor, MI (TBA). Even if your space is fully compliant, it might not work for every disabled person in our community. Make it easy for people to reach you with access questions. Put a phone number, email, or text line on your website and your door.

When people can ask, “Will this work for me?” and get a real answer, that’s inclusion.

Voting Tip Friday! Voting Tip Friday! Here’s what didn’t fit in the reel.

NOT IN NORTH CAROLINA?
Go to vote.gov, enter your address, and find the rules for your state. Every state is different.

VOTING BY MAIL
Haven’t requested your ballot yet? Do it now — the deadline is October 20 at 5 p.m. Once you get it, return it as soon as possible so there’s time to fix a correctable mistake.

⚠️ Two mistakes can’t be corrected after you mail your ballot: missing or wrong witness/notary signatures, and an unsealed envelope. Those ballots are rejected — no fix, no second chance. Everything else, double-check before you seal it.

WITNESSES OR NOTARY
You need two witnesses (18+) or one notary present when you mark your ballot. By law, the notary can’t charge you for this service.

VOTING IN PERSON (still the best way to vote)
Early voting is October 15-31. You can register and vote the same day, during early voting only. Election Day is Nov 3, and you must already be registered to vote that day.

PROOF OF ADDRESS (same-day registration)
A government-issued photo ID that shows your current name and address counts as proof. You don’t need a second document. The address has to match what you put on your registration.

If your ID doesn’t show your address, bring one of these with your current name and address:

	•	Utility bill
	•	Bank statement
	•	Paycheck
	•	Government check or other government document

PHOTO ID (to vote)

	•	NC driver’s license
	•	NC DMV non-driver ID
	•	U.S. passport or passport card
	•	Military or veterans ID
	•	Tribal enrollment card
	•	Public assistance program ID
	•	Free voter photo ID from your county board of elections
	•	Student or employee ID approved by the State Board of Elections

Most IDs can be unexpired or expired for up to one year. Voters 65+ can use an ID that was unexpired on their 65th birthday.

NO ID?
County boards of elections issue free voter IDs during early voting. You can also fill out an ID Exception Form.

Disability rights are under threat. Last week a federal judge removed community integration protections from federal rules, nationwide. Now a bipartisan resolution, H.Res. 1586, affirms our right to live in our communities. Call your U.S. Representative and ask them to cosponsor it. Community living is a civil right. 💪🏾

Voting Tip Friday!
Here’s what didn’t fit in the reel.

NOT IN NORTH CAROLINA?
Go to vote.gov, enter your address, and find the rules for your state. Every state is different.

EARLY VOTING (NC)
Oct 15-31.

PHOTO ID (to vote)

	•	Military or veterans ID
	•	Tribal enrollment card
	•	Public assistance program ID
	•	Free voter photo ID from your county board of elections
	•	Student or employee ID approved by the State Board of Elections

Most IDs can be unexpired or expired for up to one year. Voters 65+ can use an ID that was unexpired on their 65th birthday.

The address on your ID doesn’t matter for voting, since it only proves who you are. A passport works as your photo ID but doesn’t show an address, so bring a bill or bank statement if you’re registering.

NO ID?
County boards of elections issue free voter IDs during early voting. You can also fill out an ID Exception Form.

Next week: voting by mail. Follow so you don’t miss it.
