20 DAYS OF EBITDA Day 1 of 20. Follow along.

You can find out what your neighbour’s house sold for in about thirty seconds. You have no idea what your colleague’s practice sold for and you were never supposed to.

Every transaction in this industry sits behind a nondisclosure agreement. On every side. Which means the only people who actually know what practices trade for are the people buying and selling them every day.

Here is what that does to sellers.

Somebody comes in, taps into your practice management software, hands you a document with a number on it. Three million. Maybe two and a half. You go home, you tell your spouse, you start doing math on retirement.

Then you sit across from a serious buyer and everything falls apart.

I talk to practice owners every single day and the number one thing that gets them in trouble is walking into that room believing they already know what their practice is worth.

You are about to have the largest financial conversation of your life. Have it with the real number.

Over the next 20 days I’m sharing the frameworks from The Dental Exit Blueprint — the 13 EBITDA Levers that decide what a buyer actually pays.

The book is linked in bio.

@dj_smiles_ @smilesatsea @safarinsmiles Dentistry by day, laughing and dancing by night! We are all consumed with the struggles of dentistry every day! From our patients not liking the dentist, the insurance company dictating patient needs, to our student loan debt. For FIVE days we stepped away from chair side to learn and laugh! So many CE’s offered then so many dance moves and laughs shared! Until next time!!! by @dj_smiles_

If you're planning to sell your practice, timing and preparation are everything.

Selling six months out without pulling the right operational growth levers means leaving hundreds of thousands—or even $1.5M+—on the table!

By taking a strategic step back to optimize key areas like fee schedules, insurance reimbursement negotiations, distributor pricing, and lab overhead, you can dramatically increase your practice valuation before going to market.

Key Growth Levers to Pull Before You Sell:

💼 Negotiate Insurance Rates: Increasing reimbursement rates by just 10% can add massive enterprise value to a high-volume practice.

🔬 Audit Vendor & Lab Overhead: Optimize operational margins without altering patient care standard.

⏰ Plan 5–7 Years Early: Start the exit strategy conversation early so you sell at peak valuation, not in a rush.

Don't leave money on the table when it's time to transition.

Sell on your terms, at maximum value.
