Back in 2018, @jaycolinsofficial and I booked a studio session with @royaltmixes in Queens to record vocals for a really primitive version of a record we were still developing from a beat I made called “In My Mind” which was basically a kick, grooving sub bass, piano chords and some really light percussion. Jay had wrote some heat to it but the production was lacking and the arrangement sucked.So after laying down the vocals, we pretty much abandoned the track until around 2021 when I reopened the session and started reproducing it because i knew it had potential but frankly i was doing too much and while it had improved, we still werent fully sold.It gets shelved again…Until 2025 when i said screw it and literally reproduced the track again, from the ground up. I ripped Jay’s acapella (i had lost the files an we had to stem separate the old mix) and went to town. All new sounds, figuring out the arrangement, cutting what wasnt essential to the record, etcBut sometimes thats just how it goes - God’s timing is always perfect because my production skills werent even close to where they needed to be to execute this one at the level they needed until the axe was sharp enough. And getting @djelloofficial involved was the final puzzle piece to nail the arrangement and make sure the record held up against other major pop records on the dance floor sonically.“Never Letting Go” out now 💿 by @djelloofficial
