The system that keeps us down is clearly working when many of us who are lucky to develop a conscience in spite of all what’s in place to keep us uninformed can’t even be courageous enough to talk to the bigots in our families about why it’s not okay to make that racist joke. That’s if we even want to to begin with.You have to believe that change is possible but nothing is gonna change if you never make a move or take a risk. Let’s all work for a world where marginalized people don’t have to ask why bigots are allowed in our “safe spaces”. Her sound braids Tamil heritage with Jersey club, house, and the global club music of the diaspora. Past and future in the same bar. Joy and power on the same dancefloor. Healing in motion. Every set an offering back to the music that saved her. All while pushing the sound forward. Expect hypnotic vocals, heavy drums, and bass-driven energy built for the dancefloor.@_dj444_ ‘444’ aka Anu Desai is a South Asian DJ and Producer based in Brooklyn NY. 444 grew up playing percussion instruments, which has since translated into her passion to DJ and curate a high vibrational and infectious energy in any room. You can expect to hear global and cultural sounds, such as Brazilian/Arab Funk, Afro-Desi, Amapiano, Jersey/Baltimore Club, Dembow, UK Garage and House, met with her signature bouncy club edits and heavy bass lines. Anu prioritizes using music as a tool to empower her underrepresented South Asian community by collaborating with Queer/ BIPOC DJ collectives and hosting DJ workshops to promote accessibility within the music industry.
