SPICYMUSIC TAKEOVER - In The Hanging Garden | Sept 19th 2026::
SPICYMUSIC is one of Australia’s longest-standing and leading techno movements, which has been running parties and raves since 2015, showcasing both International and local DJs and producers.

For the first time in our over 10 year history, SPICYMUSIC will be making it down to Nipaluna for a takeover of the Cathedral at @inthehanginggarden from 8PM-12AM.
The takeover will feature SPICYMUSIC founders Gÿps & Spice and three core members of the SPICYMUSIC crew, Allan Pillai, Clay Crosier and WUD.

Gÿps & Spice are a techno duo from Lutruwita (Tasmania/Australia) who have been at the forefront of the underground scene since 2013, with various local and interstate performances including closing out Dark Mofo 2026 on the MainStage. Their style has been labelled groovy & energetic, psychedelic & tribal.

An established artist based amongst the thralling underground electronic music scene in Australia, Allan Pillai’s artistic vision is characterised by a relentless pursuit of sonic experimentation. Allan’s music seeks to transport listeners to states of hypnosis and cathartic movement.

Clay Crosier is a constant across the Tassie music scene, he is a regular at Revel, SPICYMUSIC and underground parties all over Tasmania. Expect to hear playful, rhythmic, stripped back grooves from this Tassie devil.

A core member of the SPICYMUSIC crew, WUD (Liam Wood) has been DJing since 2018, with techno at the centre of his sound. His selections favour restraint and subtle progression over excess, built on groove, tension, and repetition.

The Live Recording of the closing set Spice & I played on the Main Stage of Night Mass @dark_mofo in Tasmania on June 20th 2026 is now up on Soundcloud [link in bio].
This was the last night of the whole festival and the energy was high!
As two Tassie locals, it was an honour to be asked to play this closing slot - big thanks to @darrenlesaguis , @bitchy_pitchy & @hollly.etc 🫶
To play a driving, rolling, dark & hypnotic set full of groove to thousands of people who were incredibly receptive & locked in was something we’ll always remember. One of our favourite sets to date.

@djgypsy and @liamspicer_ are honestly some of the realest ones in the Australian techno scene. They’ve been bringing some of the best artists through Tassie (Lutruwita) for years now and the list of names they’ve hosted is massive!!! They’ve built such a solid community down in Launceston, I felt that straight away the first time I stepped into one of their parties. The most driven, welcoming and down to earth legends who truly care about the culture they’re creating.

I got to hear this set live through the Danley at Multiverse Festival and the energy was HOT. So grateful they trusted me with this recording for the 23rd rec. If you’re ever in Tassie make sure you pop into @spicymusic_tas !!!! They throw the sickest raves around launie by @djgypsy

Excited to be kicking off the Tassie summer doof season & playing at Honeypot Gathering 2026 this Friday night, 13th Feb. Friday is all about techno.
We’ll be playing 10:30pm - 12am alongside a solid lineup! There’s something extra special about playing in the Tassie bush, it’s mystic & moody, & the Tassie doof scene provides us the space to dig deeper into our psychedelic, dark & driving techno whilst still adding our signature groove.
This one is completely sold out! Can’t wait to boogie with those that secured tixxx !! 🫶🦋✨🌲🪐🌚

Our final headline announcement brings you the SPICYMUSIC founders, @djgypsy & @liamspicer_ , a techno duo from lutruwita (Tas) who have been at the forefront of the underground scene since 2013. For the first time in SPICYMUSIC’S 10-year journey, the duo will headline their own event. SPICYMUSIC has established itself as lutruwita’s leading techno movement, running parties and raves since 2015 and showcasing both international and local DJs and producers.

Gÿps & Spice’s style has been labeled as groovy & energetic, psychedelic & tribal. Their sets are best known to have a push and pull between hard & fast, sexy & trippy driven sounds, interwoven with moody textures, tribal groove, a touch of 90s rave and hip-hop vocal influences. The energy in their sets has a lasting, positive effect on others.

As a duo, they have headlined events such as Dark Mofo Night Mass and In The Hanging Garden in lutruwita (Tas), as well as interstate at Goodbar and WeLove in Eora (Syd). They have also been invited to play in other Australian cities for techno nights and festivals including Babylon Festival in Naarm (Melb).
Within lutruwita, they perform regularly at club nights and festivals, with their performances at events such as SPICYMUSIC, Party In The Paddock, Junction Arts Festival, Great Escape Festival, Multiverse Festival, Synergy Festival, and Revel.
