Homes don’t get built on promises. They get built through the unglamorous work of securing financing, holding developers and the City accountable, and seeing projects through from entitlement to occupancy.

For 15 years, that’s been my work in District 10 from serving on the ground as an education & employment coordinator, to leading job training and workforce development programs, and as the former CEO of Young Community Developers (YCD).

My housing platform isn’t a list of promises I’m making for the first time. It’s an extension of the work I’ve already been doing.

The Honorable Willie L. Brown is one of the most influential leaders San Francisco has ever seen. From serving as Speaker of the California State Assembly to Mayor of San Francisco, his decades of public service have helped shape our city and open doors for generations of leaders.

I’ve been here. I show up. I’ve done the work. And my track record speaks for itself.

Leadership isn’t about where you’re from. It’s about who you show up for, the relationships you build, and the work you put in to move your community forward.

I’ve been showing up for District 10 for the past 16 years, creating opportunities, bringing people together, and working to make a difference in the lives of our residents.

Long before I decided to run for office, this community was my priority. My commitment has never been about a title. It’s about service, accountability, and delivering results.

The work didn’t start with this campaign, and it won’t stop on Election Day.

Throughout my life, I’ve found myself in positions of leadership, bringing people together, creating opportunities, and advocating for those whose voices deserve to be heard.

For me, leadership has never been about a title or position. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and making a difference in people’s lives.

We were honored to host tonight’s District 10 Candidate Forum at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School, bringing our community together for an important conversation about the future of children, youth, and families in our district.

One of the biggest challenges facing District 10 is equitable access to opportunity.

Addressing our housing crisis isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s about creating an ecosystem where residents have access to good-paying jobs, affordable housing, reliable transportation, and the resources they need to thrive.

These issues are all connected. We need to build housing responsibly, prevent displacement, and ensure District 10 receives the same level of investment as every other district in San Francisco. by @djlbrookter
