A successful day in the field starts long before the season begins. During Field Ready Training Day, Dawson Cherry, Associate Trainer with Wildrose Carolinas, walked guests through preseason preparation for field dogs. He shared tips on everything from conditioning, nutrition, balance, to training. This was a fun little getaway to the Port Royal / St Helena Island area. @releaseover20 Board Member @dlcherry1964 had the idea to have a meet and greet with @baystreetoutfitters at @shellring_aleworks A really good turnout and it was great to see some old friends and meet some new. Board member @michaelwcollier and I spent the night at Dawson's place and we got a couple hours of fishing in the morning. Such a beautiful place. Truly "God's country" I was very encouraged to catch 6 redfish from the 2024 year class - A good sign, assuming these were not stocked fish. I think we'll start having more of these meet and greet around the state - and hopefully country. What do you think?

.Big shout out to @scsportsmedicine Dr Emily Darr and Dr. John Hulvey for keeping my knees and back in shape. As well as @axis_hand_and_physical_therapy Megan Graham, PT. 3 days in Iowa, 4 days in North Dakota walking 8-10 miles per day. Leads to days like this. Thankful. Grateful. God is good. Spring of 1978. 14 yo. Our old dog Buck, English Pointer. He ran me all over Wayne County, NC. Side by side Fox Savage 20 gauge. My first vehicle in the background 1973 Ford F-100. I come by it honest. My Dad with the Superlight Belgium Browning O/U 20 gauge. Later sold to pay money he borrowed from me. Gun in the rack in the back rear window, dog in the box, and I would drive home after basketball practice to hunt my home covey of birds at Joyner’s Farm just on the city limits of Mt. Olive, NC. If someone did that at WCDS today they would be expelled. Tritronics Ecollar the size of a sandwich on Buck’s neck. Boy I dont train that way anymore. My how times change. #burds #quail You either get it or you dont. Passion. Burddogs. So many memories. by @dlcherry1964
