The world rhymes, if you listen close enough.

Having my 67th birthday serendipitously fall on the last day of our GABLE production, however, is an easy rhyme to spot. With dear family and friends, and meaningful work, I am blessed indeed. by @dlgould

Dear family and friends,

Happy Week #1—as in "We Are the Champions!"—of production!

We wrapped Day Three last night at 1:00 AM, and while we still have a long way to go, GABLE already feels like a very special film.

While I may be a bit difficult to reach until mid-September, please know that I think of you often and am just a phone call away should you need anything.

I also carry three things with me every day:

• An overriding desire to tell a story that matters. Making a film is far too heavy a lift to aim for anything less.
• A deep belief that the world suddenly opened up for this film. Twenty-five years ago, a wise man told me, "Every film that gets made is a miracle." I didn't understand then. I do now.
• A commitment to our friendship and to the inspiration and support you have always given me.

While I am hesitant to share production stills this early, I have attached a few behind-the-scenes photos to give you a sense of the magnitude of this undertaking. by @dlgould

To every friend who, over the past 30 years—think “Macarena,” Space Jam, and the year Dolly the sheep was cloned—has patiently listened to me describe the movie I was going to make about Dan Gable, I have a bit of news to share.

Of course, there are so many people who, alongside the incredibly talented team assembled, helped get us here. While there is still much work ahead, please know that I am forever in your debt.

Although you may need to read the entire article, I can assure you my name is in there somewhere. :)

Few joys compare to watching kindhearted, hardworking, talented friends succeed.

Thank you not only for the kind birthday wishes but the years of friendship that underscore them. I am blessed indeed.

After 10 days, I just got off the Pacific Crest Trail and am back online. While the experience is likely the toughest physical challenge I have faced, what I witnessed was AWE-INSPIRING. (The attached photo is how I rang in my 66th year.)

On Thursday, September 25th, 7:00 PM, standup comic, writer, storyteller, and former host of NPR’s comedy trivia show Ask Me Another, Ophira Eisenberg, will be performing at The James Theater, 213 N Gilbert Street. (Tickets can be purchased on The James Theater website.)

Ophira visited Iowa City for the first time last April when she told a story at my Life Design Last Class event. Ophira ended up loving our community so much that she bought a return ticket.

Please consider joining me at The James Theater and welcome Ophira back to town. :)

Very blessed to have been a part of this book event at Prairie Lights in Iowa City for mine and Garry Klein's (@garryfromiowainsta ) new book "What Happened On the Garden Street Bus". We had great conversation with Dave Gould (@dlgould ), saw very dear friends and family, met many new people, and we sold every copy in the store that night! Looks like a restock will be coming soon.~

Happy Heavenly birthday Grandpa Meyer, who would have turned 100 the night on the 12th when this took place. He was a big inspiration for the look of the main character. Very serendipitous.
