Today is yes, 250 years of America being a country. I can’t find it in my soul to say it’s a *happy* Fourth of July, but I can say I’m happy to share my life with the people and animals I have in it (or have had in it). Today
@castro.3__ and his family made my heart so full after worrying about this day coming as last year Coco and Charlie both shared this holiday together. But my America is something I’m proud of. Something I’ve dived deep on and seen beautiful things, tragic things and grieved them deeply, moments where I’ve been moved by cultures and traditions. Moments where I’m eternally proud 🥹 of my parents singularly and together. America 🇺🇸 for me is so much more than a tacky celebration it’s rooted in the history and people and pets that make this country so great. And even though I would rather not dwell on the lack of patriotism I have at this moment I want to highlight these beautiful moments that stick out to me as my America 💕🏳️‍🌈🇪🇸🇲🇽

Very blessed to have been a part of this book event at Prairie Lights in Iowa City for mine and Garry Klein's (@garryfromiowainsta ) new book "What Happened On the Garden Street Bus". We had great conversation with Dave Gould (@dlgould ), saw very dear friends and family, met many new people, and we sold every copy in the store that night! Looks like a restock will be coming soon.~

Happy Heavenly birthday Grandpa Meyer, who would have turned 100 the night on the 12th when this took place. He was a big inspiration for the look of the main character. Very serendipitous.

Thank you for all the support!

Life, a fleeting gift, urges us to design a purposeful plan to savor every moment, a philosophy I see reflected in your inspiring guidance, Dave. As an instructor, you gifted us knowledge; as an inspiration, you ignited our passions; as a mentor, you shaped our paths; and as a selfless friend, you enriched our lives immeasurably. Though one chapter closes, the legacy of your friendship and wisdom will continue to inspire us all, and I wish you the very best as you embark on this new adventure. Cheers to our cherished friendship, Dave, I am truly grateful for the almost decade we’ve shared.

Much like @taylorswift I had a very bejeweled weekend celebrating 🎉 30 years of work, miracles, change making, tears, hugs, DIH, love, friendship and inspiration for every single child that has been affected by childhood cancer that the @uidm has helped support creating tomorrow by dancing 💃🏻 today! On this #worldcancerday I celebrate the joy and connection I’ve created in my life these past 16 years. I don’t honestly know where my life would be without Dance 🪩 Marathon and I’m forever grateful for all the things that poured into my cup because of this amazing organization 💚💚💚 Here’s to the all the new things but also the end of an ERA 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

You're invited!
The Enterprise Partners present - “The Green Room”. The Green Room intends to bring people together for an evening of story sharing and hear stories of people working towards a better world. It was conceptualized by University of Iowa Professor Dave Gould in Iowa City.

Dave has dedicated his career to designing and teaching innovative courses to explore the question- “ How to make higher education more meaningful and community - engaged?" In this quest of his, Dave Gould created a course at the University of Iowa called the Green Room, and invited the city to school!

The Green Room invites innovative thinkers to bring to the course the most important question they believe “twenty-somethings” should be trying to answer and that higher education should be trying to inform.

Don't miss this opportunity to join Green Room today, as this unique chance only comes by once a month. Head on over to the link in our bio and register!

UI students: Did you know you have approximately 2 million minutes from the time you start at Iowa to your graduation? This class is an incredible tool for designing your time at Iowa. It’s off-cycle so it starts March 9! 40 seats left. I will buy you dinner if you take it and don’t find it useful - I know it is that good! 🖤💛
