//D'LICIOUS MAGAZINE - SOMETHING WICKED IS COMING //

If this terrifying little creature appeared in your kitchen at 3am, what would you offer it to persuade it to leave?!

A) A cup of tea and a biscuit
B) My entire collection of modelling tools
C) The cake order I'm already regretting accepting
D) The house. It can have the house. I'm leaving.

This month's Phantom Rising tutorial by the incredibly talented Pingping Li Fleming of @pings_cake_design, in association with @saracinodolci, is absolutely spectacular!

A ghostly creature rising from the flame of a candle, complete with swirling smoke, outstretched arms and enough creepy detail to give you nightmares.

Pingping takes us through the creation step by step, showing how she brings this supernatural scene to life using Saracino products and some seriously impressive sculpting techniques.

I'm choosing D. What about you?👇

//D'LICIOUS MAGAZINE - WE ALL STARTED SOMEWHERE! //

Who else has photos of their very first creations that they would quite happily pay good money to have permanently deleted from the internet?! 🙋‍♀️

We've all got them. Those early pieces we were SO proud of at the time, only to look back now and wonder what on earth we were thinking!

But that's the brilliant thing about learning a creative skill. Every attempt teaches us something, and every piece gets us a little further along.

This month in our regular feature 'Newbie & Now,' we're showing you the work of Elham Barati of @lunar.cookie. Check out her earlier work and what she's creating today.

And THIS is exactly why I love this feature. It's proof that the artists we admire didn't just wake up one morning producing amazing work. They practised, experimented, made mistakes and kept going.

So here's your challenge…

Find a photo of one of your first creations and post it in the comments alongside something you've made recently!

Let's fill this post with some fabulous before-and-afters and show newer artists what's possible. ❤️

//D'LICIOUS MAGAZINE - THE SOUND OF SUGAR ART //

If your life had a soundtrack, what song would be playing right now?

Mine would probably be Don't worry, be happy (although I'm not very good at the don't worry part!! lol)

This month, @haianhteixeira brings us something quite extraordinary with Sonata - a beautiful and haunting sugar sculpture featuring a winged girl at a piano, surrounded by an intricate arrangement of figures and branches.

And the best bit? She's showing us how she created it!

It's a wonderful example of how sugar art can tell a story, create a mood and make you feel something without saying a single word.

So come on, what's your current theme tune?

Grab your copy of the October issue now and get this tutorial for yourself. Only available until the end of the month. See our website for digital or print copies.

//D'LICIOUS MAGAZINE - LET'S GET NOSY! //

What's one completely random thing about you that nobody in the cake world would ever guess?

Are you secretly obsessed with cleaning? Do you have a bizarre talent? A ridiculous phobia? Or a hobby that has absolutely NOTHING to do with cake?

We love getting to know the people behind the incredible creations, and this month we're having a little nose into the world of Máté Kismárton of @cake_citrom_studio

From his favourite things to his pet hates, we're finding out a little more about the person behind the art.

And I think we should all join in!

Tell us ONE random fact about yourself in the comments. The stranger the better. 😂👇

Here's mine ... I once made a twit of myself in front of Robert DeNiro :(

//D'LICIOUS MAGAZINE - DON'T SCREAM! //

You're home alone. It's midnight. You hear a noise downstairs. You turn around and THIS face is staring at you through the window. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

A) Screaming and running for my life
B) Grabbing the nearest rolling pin
C) Asking what products they used because that shading is INCREDIBLE
D) Taking a photo for the cake group before I die

Our October cover is certainly not for the faint-hearted!

The incredibly talented Francesca Naia of @francycakes has created this absolutely terrifying edible masterpiece, and she's showing you exactly how she did it in this month's D’licious Magazine.

From those bloodshot eyes to the horrifying details, Francesca takes us through her painting techniques step by step.

Grab your copy now. Only available until the end of the month.
Get it in digital form or print. Shipping worldwide.
Just visit our website.

p.s. I'm going with C. Obviously.

I thought David Close couldn’t come to the Puglia CAKE Festival 2026 this year??

It seems to me he’s had a lovely time! Spa days, trips to polignano, wine, dancing, even a massage…

Don’t believe him when he said he wasn’t here. The evidence is clear!
