One of the coolest photos from one of the coolest eras of American motorcycle racing.

Ben Bostrom and Anthony “Go Show” Gobert — Vance & Hines Ducati.

In 1999, these two were teammates on the legendary Vance & Hines Ducati AMA Superbike team. Bostrom was wearing the #1 plate as the defending 1998 AMA Superbike Champion, while Gobert was one of the most naturally gifted—and undeniably wild—motorcycle racers of his generation.

What makes their story truly epic happened at Laguna Seca on July 11, 1999, when the World Superbike Championship came to America.

The AMA guys were essentially the local wild cards taking on the best World Superbike riders on the planet.

Race 1: Anthony Gobert wins.
Race 2: Ben Bostrom wins.

A complete Vance & Hines Ducati sweep of the World Superbike weekend.

Gobert had also set a 1:25.185 lap at Laguna Seca on the Vance & Hines Ducati 996, a track record that still stood when WorldSBK returned in 2001.
