Today, October 15th, 2026, we honor and remember Madi Taylor on the ninth anniversary of her passing. 🤍

Madi brought so much light into the world through her contagious energy, beautiful spirit, and unforgettable smile. At just 14 years old, she peacefully passed away after battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia, leaving behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.

At Dance Marathon, we continue to honor Madi’s legacy by fighting for the futures of children and families impacted by childhood illness. Her spirit lives on in every step we take and every life we fight for.

When @kaitlyn.grusz looks at the kids Dance Marathon supports today, she sees a little bit of the 5-year-old she used to be.

At five, Kaitlyn spent nearly a month at @seattlechildrens receiving care for necrotizing pneumonia. Her family remembers the fear and uncertainty, but they also remember what happened once Kaitlyn began feeling stronger: games, Play-Doh, movies, trips to the playroom and care teams who made sure she still got to feel like a kid.

Years later, Kaitlyn found @dmatsdsu .

“I see a glimmer of my five-year-old self who once sat with the same feelings, fears and anxieties at such a young age.”

Today, she serves as Vice President of Marketing for Dance Marathon at SDSU, helping tell the story of a program raising funds for @radychildrens_sd .

Her first total reveal is still one of the moments she thinks about most. Standing in that room, she could see what months of students showing up together could mean for kids and families receiving care.

Kaitlyn knows what it feels like to be the child in the hospital bed. Now, she gets to help create more moments of care, comfort and childhood for the kids who come after her. 💛 @sandiegostateuniversity by @dmatsdsu

From 10am–2pm, come find us on Campanile Walkway for Puppies & Popsicles! 🐶🍦 Stop by, hang out with some adorable puppies, grab a popsicle, and learn more about Dance Marathon!
