A donation is never just a number.

It can mean more stability, more opportunities and a little less worry in someone’s everyday life.

And when many people choose to contribute, that impact grows.
Helping local organizations keep showing up for their communities, day after day.

That’s the power of community. 💛

When Colombia was hit by the earthquake, so many of you showed up.

Together, you donated $5,101 USD to support affected communities. Every dollar was transferred to Colombian organizations working directly on emergency response, recovery and rebuilding.

Your support helped fund community kitchens, essential supplies and longer-term recovery efforts in affected communities across the country.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared our campaign or helped us spread the word. This is what can happen when a community comes together to help.

Thank you for your trust and your support. Muchas gracias.

Is poverty really a choice?

It’s easy to look at someone’s situation and think: Why don’t they just study? Work harder? Make better choices?

Where you start, the education you can access, the kind of work available to you and how much financial room you have all shape the decisions you make.

That doesn’t mean choices don’t matter. They do. But poverty is more complicated than decisions alone.

This week’s Colombia Explained looks at some of the numbers and realities behind that complexity.

What do you think: how much of where we end up is choice, and how much is circumstance?

Give where you live. 💛

Lunch isn’t a one-time need. And neither is the work behind it. 💛
Every day, local organizations in Medellín make sure children in their communities have a warm lunch.

Monthly donations help make that support more reliable. At around $15 a month, you can help cover a full week of lunches for one child, and together, those small monthly contributions add up.

We’re looking for 20 people who want to join us.
Could you be one of them?

You put your trash outside. A truck picks it up. And for most of us, that’s where the story ends.
But the trash doesn’t disappear.

Every day, thousands of tonnes of waste leave Medellín. At the same time, thousands of recicladores work across the city, recovering materials before they end up in landfill.

And few places show how closely Medellín’s history is connected to waste like Moravia, a neighborhood that was once home to the city’s municipal dump.

If you live here, even temporarily, you’re part of this system too.
- Separate your recyclables
- Keep them clean and dry
- Give them to local recicladores
- And help take care of the neighborhoods we share

This Saturday, we’re putting that last one into practice with a community clean-up in Moravia. 💛
You can join too! Because there really is no “away.”

Give where you live.
