Professor Royce Gracie has left the building. What amazing few days and a complete honour to host such a humble, super funny, and intelligent man. He made me rethink the way I run my business, how I live my life, and how I train the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Having the opportunity to train with him in Hamilton, Ontario, under my Professor Jeff Joslin as a blue belt and as a purple belt, I recalled those amazing moments and made it a goal to one day bring this experience to my students, Alberta, and Western Canada. This wouldn’t have been possible without the presence of Jesus Christ in my life and how He has made all things new for my family.

It was a blessing to connect with Professor Royce and have him on our mats teaching his father’s self-defence system. Having Professor Royce here on October 1st, his father Hélio Gracie’s birthday, made it even more special as we paid our respects to the creator of Gracie Jiu Jitsu and a true warrior.

Priceless moments were spent hearing Professor Royce share stories about his father, brothers, family, and journey as a martial artist. He has the best analogies ever! Everyone who attended the three seminars had an amazing time. I was especially impressed by how he worked with the youth—a blend of humour and sternness where actions spoke louder than words. Family. Faith. Community. Jiu Jitsu.

In 2019, we opened the doors to Dallas O’Regan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with one goal: to build more than a martial arts academy—we wanted to build a family.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is more than what we do… it’s how we live. Our entire family trains together. Erica began her journey when our Women’s Only program launched in 2021. Cecilia started at just 4 years old and now, at 12, has competed across North America. Dallas Jr. and Conor have also competed at major tournaments, and our youngest, Tyler, recently started training and is excited for his first competition later this year.

As a family, we’ve learned that growth comes through perseverance, hard work, and facing challenges together.

Today, we’re proud to have one of the strongest youth programs in Alberta and one of the top kids’ teams in Canada. While we’re grateful for the medals and championships, what matters most is helping people build confidence, character, discipline, and resilience.

This March, we also launched O’Regan’s MMA, and we’re excited to continue growing alongside our incredible community.

To everyone in Cochrane—thank you for believing in us. Your support has allowed us to turn a dream into something truly special.

🥋 YOUTH GRADING DAY – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH!

It’s grading day at DO BJJ! We’re excited to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and progress of our young athletes as they take the next step in their Jiu Jitsu journey!

SHARK TANK TIMES:

🥋 Ages 5–7 | 9:30AM to 10:30AM
🥋 Ages 8–13 | 12:00PM to 1:00PM

Calling ALL DO BJJ youth students!

Whether you’re grading or not, we want YOU on the mats! Come out, help shark tank your teammates, challenge them, cheer them on, and be part of their special day!

Grading isn’t just about earning a new stripe or belt. It’s about perseverance, growth, and having a team behind you every step of the way.

ADULT CLASS TIME CHANGE:
Our regular Saturday Adult Gi class will run from 1:00PM to 3:00PM this week to accommodate youth gradings.

Let’s pack the mats and make it an awesome day for our DO BJJ family!

Royce Gracie Youth Seminar Photo Dump! 📸🥋

What an unforgettable experience for our young athletes! The kids had the BEST time learning from the legendary Professor Royce Gracie, sharing the mats with their teammates, and making memories that will last a lifetime!

We are so grateful to have been able to bring this incredible opportunity to our youth. Moments like these are what Jiu Jitsu is all about — learning, growing, having fun, and being inspired by those who helped pave the way.

We’re coming together to support Cochrane Alliance Church’s annual Jacket Racket and help make sure local families have access to warm winter gear this season. ❤️

We are collecting clean, new or gently used winter gear for ALL ages and sizes, including jackets, boots, mittens, toques and scarves.

📦 Drop your donations off at the DO BJJ dojo!
We’ll collect everything from our community and deliver it to Cochrane Alliance Church on October 22nd.

This is such a simple way for our academy family to give back to the community we call home. Check your closets, gather up the winter gear your family has outgrown, and help us fill our donation box! 🙌

🥇🥇 DOUBLE GOLD FOR YAZMEEN! 🥇🥇

A huge congratulations to Yazmeen, who put in the work and came away with DOUBLE GOLD today at the True North Grappling Championship in St. Albert! 🔥

Hard work shows when it matters. Yazmeen stepped onto the mats ready to compete, showed her skills in both Gi and No-Gi, and earned the top spot in both divisions. 💪

We’re so proud to see her hard work, consistency and determination paying off. Two divisions. Two gold medals. What a day! 🏆🏆

There’s something pretty special about women getting on the mats together. ❤️

Our Women’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class runs every Wednesday from 7:00–8:00 PM and is open to women of all experience levels — whether you’ve trained before or have never stepped onto a mat.
