28 vs. 27

A period that’s poured teetering confidence on the bones of my already-weak mental anatomy 🥲🙏🏼

I made an extensive post summarising my year before this one, and as hopeful as I was for this year, I found my internals jammed with questions on how to proceed with caution once I entered it.

I’m still living, learning, and growing, and that is the greatest gift of all. I think I’ve become a lot more realistic about what to expect from life while still needing to watch myself to keep me from slipping into cynicism. And maybe that’s what growing up means. Maybe I should celebrate these little changes in my fibre every year. Because however rough a year may seem, it was still my year. And I am grateful. by @dodgydecisions

Of course, what went down in the four months is a long story that citizens of Instagram have no time for with their tiny ass attention spans, but let’s just say there were a lot of times with 104° temperature (ON ME) that I spent… ☺️☺️working.☺️☺️

Is it a memory that I go back to often? No.

It comes back to haunt me 🥰 every now and then.

Yes I have a brother who got talking to a stranger double his age (I’m guessing), on Reddit. Who, out of the blue, suggested this (apparently) authentic Japanese restaurant in Chennai that existed back when he was in the city about 12-13 years ago.

It wasn’t my taste, but if it’s really authentic, can be given a shot.

The place is called 🥁🥁🥁

📍Dahlia in Nungambakkam

And god knows how it’s still surviving 13 years later with zero marketing.

I’ve been through hard years before, but I think this one was my hardest yet. To a point that I felt depressed again while scrolling through my gallery to even create this carousal. I’ve heard my mum say I look different now than I did in 2023, but only I know how excruciating this stab of a year has been.

This year was one with more internal advancements than external, right from day one (pretty much). And when I first started making this list, I didn’t think I could go beyond two, so I’m glad we’re here.

I’ve dug out these shiny pearly moments/events after what felt like a scavenger hunt, that I will forever carry with me in my heart – they have all contributed in changing me completely in some very big ways. And I just know that all this growth is going to pave path for what was always meant to be mine (well, at least, I hope so).

I celebrated my birthday this year by gifting myself a Karan Ajula concert! I’m not a concert person, I’ve never been, but this year has been pretty transformative in pushing me out of my comfort zone and KA felt like the perfect artist I could experience one with - I’m into his music, he’s not too big yet, it’s his first tour in India so only his listeners knew him when the it was first announced - felt like an easy space.

Here’s Khush and I when we first received the tix, more episodes to come (obviously) 🫶🏼
