5 years of loving our Sunny 🌞

5 years ago we knew our trio was ready to grow. We had no idea just how much one wobbly little bundle would expand our world and our hearts.

From the very beginning, we knew Sunny was different. We didn’t know how or why yet, we just knew this little boy was going to need more from us.

So we’ve spent the last 5 years catching him, carrying him (farewell wrists and shoulders 👋🏼), holding him steady, helping him “ups” and keeping him safe, all while trying never to hold him back from being our stubborn, resilient (often airborne) boy.

It’s hard to put into words just how much Sunny has filled our home and our lives with light. He’s the funniest, strongest, happiest, most stubborn, “goodest goodest” bundle of sunshine. 🌞

We know now that Sunny’s neurological condition is degenerative, and that his body will continue to decline. Somehow though, with every change he just adapts, and we’ve adapted right alongside him. While our hearts break for him, at the very same time they just keep getting fuller because of him.

But just like we knew on that very first day 5 years ago, this is exactly where we’re all meant to be. So for as long as Sunny keeps pushing to get back up and keep going, we’ll be right there, ready to catch him.

There is so much we wish we could change for him. But there isn’t a single thing we would change about him.

What an honour it is to be his mums 🧡

For 5 years we’ve been told over and over how lucky Sunny is to have us.

Sweet Cocoa was the first baby before graduating to big sister 🥹

Maternity sessions with pets are just so special. Even more so for Cocoa's family, who were originally gifted this session for Max, Cocoa’s much loved brother, who sadly passed away before they had the chance to use it.

But then a year later with a baby on the way, it suddenly became the perfect time to capture their little family of three, with Cocoa right at the heart of it.

We just know she’s going to be the best big sister 🥰

If your dog was your ‘first born’ too, we'd love to capture some beautiful family memories for you just like these.

Life can surprise you in the sweetest ways.

Matt originally bought Cynthia this photo session as a Christmas gift, with gorgeous groodle Arthur (who also goes by his Spanish name, Arturo) set to be the star of the show.

But by the time they booked in a few months later, there was some unexpected news... Arthur was going to be a big brother!

And now looking at these photos, it feels like a love letter to their beautiful first chapter as a family - right before the big adventure to come.

Dog maths: 3 berners + 1 bed = 0 space for the humans 🤭

These three cuties have the most heartwarming story as they were actually never meant to be a trio.

Harriet (6) and Dudley (5) have always been a very bonded pair. So when Harriet was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer and her family were told she may not have long left, puppy Olive joined the pack to be Dudley’s companion when that time came.

But Harriet had other plans. More than a year later, she’s still here with her pack and continuing to surprise everyone 🥹

So for now they’re a very happy family of five, with all the love and chaos you’d expect from a home with three berners!

(and enough space for the humans on the bed….just)

For pet parents there comes a point where you suddenly realise…that time with your dog doesn’t feel as endless as it once did.

This beautiful session with senior goldens Maggie and Reuben, along with their loving pawrents Tanya and Cory, felt extra special.

We spent the afternoon in the beautiful home they built together, capturing all the cuddles, chaos, and little everyday moments they share that mean the most.

As the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to capture cosy memories at home with your pack that you’ll love for a lifetime.

Sometimes people tell us they’d love a photo session with their dog… but don’t really want to be in the photos themselves.

Sessions like this one with Gladys and Clarence are a reminder that your dog can absolutely be the main character, while still capturing all the love and personality that makes your life together so special.

We spent the afternoon photographing these two exactly as they are, wandering from one favourite spot to the next in the beautiful space they share with their humans.

And even though mum and dad stayed mostly behind the scenes, the photos still feel deeply personal which we just love.

Home has a way of doing that after all 🧡
