Hi everyone! Lots of new faces here, so a quick introduction is in order!

I’m Ashley Urbano Vondrachek, the “Ash” behind Dogs Like Ash 🐾

I’m a dog person, a wedding person, and the one at every event looking for the dogs.

I started Dogs Like Ash because I know what it feels like to love your dog so fiercely that you won’t compromise on including them in your big moments.

Weddings are emotional, busy, beautiful, chaotic days! Having your dog there should feel special, not stressful.

That’s where I come in!

I help couples include their dogs in a way that actually makes sense for them. Sometimes that means portraits, a first look, walking down the aisle, hanging in the bridal suite, popping into cocktail hour, or just getting those sweet moments before they head home for a nap.

I coordinate with your planner, photographer, videographer, venue, and whoever else needs to know where your pup needs to be and when..so you can just enjoy having them there!

Dogs Like Ash has now been part of 80+ weddings in the last 2.5 years, and every single one still feels personal to me. It’s an HONOR to be included on every couples day!

I’m so happy you’re here. Truly. 🤍

Ps. This is from a styled shoot, I would never wear white to your wedding 😳💀♥️ by @dogslikeash

“My friend said they’ll watch the dog.”

It’s one of the most common things we hear. And for some weddings, that may work.

But on a wedding day, your dog’s needs don’t pause just because you’re saying “I do.”

They still need potty breaks. Water. Quiet moments. Someone reading their body language. Someone coordinating with your planner, photographer, venue, and transportation. Someone whose attention isn’t split between celebrating with you and caring for your pup.

That’s the difference.

A wedding day pet concierge isn’t just someone holding a leash.

It’s someone whose only job is making sure your dog is safe, comfortable, and included in your day…so you can stay fully present for every moment.

✨ Fully insured
✨ Experienced with dogs and weddings
✨ Access to our collection of floral collars, bow ties & wedding accessories
✨ Transportation, timeline coordination, and peace of mind from start to finish

Because your best friend deserves more than whoever happened to be available! They deserve someone whose entire day revolves around them. 🤍

I spent a decade in corporate sales, making six figures, traveling when I wanted, and steadily working my way toward financial independence. And on paper, I was “doing everything right”.

But the truth is, I was deeply unhappy. I hated going to work every single day.

When Ellie crossed the rainbow bridge, grief made a lot of things really clear for me. Losing her changed the way I looked at my life and made me start asking myself what I was actually working toward.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that grief, I decided to build this business. And eventually, that little decision gave me the courage to walk away from corporate America altogether.

The funny thing is, I didn’t really leave those ten years behind. I use so much of what I learned in sales every single day.. how to communicate, build trust, manage relationships, solve problems, stay calm when things get chaotic, advocate for what matters, and take ownership when something needs to get done.

I just use those skills very differently now.

Now I get to hold space for dogs on one of the biggest days of their parents’ lives. I get to pay attention to what they need, protect their calm and comfort, advocate for them when something is too much, and make sure they actually get to enjoy being part of the day. Yet behind the scenes, I’m still managing people, expectations, logistics, timelines, and about a million moving pieces.

My life looks a lot different now. And yes, so does my path to financial independence. But I’ve never been happier, more at peace, or more fulfilled.

I used to think freedom was mostly about the number in my bank account. Now I think it also looks like being of service, doing work I actually care about, and building something that feels undeniably mine. taken in Carolina Grove by @dogslikeash

Most of you don’t know Ellie and my story, but if you’ve ever had Dogs Like Ash on site at your wedding, you’ve been directly impacted by it.

I adopted Ellie on October 10, 2013, when I was just barely 24 years old. She had been left at Manhattan Animal Care & Control by an owner who was terminally ill. She had been housed in the second-to-last kennel, in a room I almost forgot to look in. She was a three-year-old brindle Pittie with white markings who was absolutely terrified, confused, and heartbroken. Her name back then was Terra.

I took her home, renamed her Ellie, and our journey began.

I wish I could tell you I immediately understood what bringing her home would mean, but I absolutely did not. I had never had a dog that big, strong, or energetic, and I was woefully unprepared for what I had signed myself up for. For probably the first six months, Ellie and I were just trying to figure each other out. We had to learn how to trust each other, how to communicate, and how to build a life together.

This is also something most people in the wedding community don’t know about me: I’m in recovery from alcoholism.

I got sober in March of 2017, and my recovery is still something I take one day at a time. I hope my husband and my son never have to know the version of me that Ellie knew during those years.

But she knew that version of me and she loved me anyway.

There were periods during the worst of my drinking when Ellie was what kept me alive. Even when I wasn’t taking care of myself, I knew she depended on me. She needed to be fed, walked, played with, and cared for. She needed me to get up.

I was by no means a perfect dog mom, but no matter how badly I was struggling, I didn’t want her to go without. So I did my best to show up for her on days when I didn’t know how to show up for myself.

We’re a few days late to our own birthday post… but on October 3rd, Dogs Like Ash officially turned 3. 🥹🐾

Three years ago, I had an idea, a love for dogs, a love for weddings, and absolutely no idea where it would take me.

Since then, we’ve been trusted with 70+ weddings, countless incredibly loved dogs, some very emotional aisle walks, a whole lot of behind the scenes pivots, and so many moments I never could have imagined when I first started.

This business has grown, changed, stretched me, and taught me so much…and lately, I’ve been feeling pulled to share more of that part too.

Not just the pretty wedding days, but the heart behind the work. The lessons, the growing pains, the why, the dogs who shaped this business, and the parts of building something that don’t always make it onto Instagram.

There are changes coming to Dogs Like Ash, and they feel really meaningful. More intentional. More personal. More rooted in what this business has always been about at its core.

So this feels like a fitting way to step into year four: a little more vulnerable, a little more open, and really excited for what’s next.

Happy belated 3 years to Dogs Like Ash. 🤍🐾 taken in The Upchurch by @dogslikeash

These definitely aren’t the only dog-friendly wedding venues we love in the Triangle, but they’re a pretty great place to start! 🐾🤍

If having your dog at your wedding is a priority, one of the biggest things to look for is a venue that gives you flexibility beyond just “dogs are allowed for an outdoor ceremony.”

Think: getting ready with you indoors, hanging out comfortably between photos, having somewhere climate controlled and QUIET to decompress, joining cocktail hour, or having an indoor backup plan when North Carolina weather decides not to cooperate.

These Raleigh area venues have all given us the opportunity to care for our couples’ dogs both indoors and outdoors when needed, which can make a huge difference in how smoothly and comfortably the day goes for both humans and dogs.

Consider this a starting point, not an exhaustive list. There are plenty more venues we love! Remember, pet policies can always change, so we recommend confirming the specifics with your venue before booking.

If having your dog there is one of your non-negotiables, we’re always happy to help you think through what to ask. 🐶💍 taken in Raleigh, North Carolina by @dogslikeash

We love our planner friends! They make running a whole wedding from top to bottom look effortless and we are constantly in awe! Yet when it comes to your dog, they will happily hand us the leash 🐕‍🦺🙌@

Things your planner doesn’t want to think about that we are 1000% focused on:

🐾 Keeping them calm and out of the way while you walk down the aisle

🐾 Transporting them to and from the venue

🐾 Making sure they get potty breaks and are back for their shot calls

🐾 Helping them burn off some energy before their big moment

🐾 Holding the leash during the ceremony — while also watching their body language and knowing when they may need to step away

This way your planner team can love on them and get back to what they do best, making sure your day runs like clockwork. While you can rest easy knowing your dog is in steady, capable hands ✨💖 by @dogslikeash

A wedding dress, four paws, and a bride who knew the memory would be worth it. 🤍🐾

There’s no one right way to include your dog in your wedding day, only the way that feels right to you!

Yet if you’re feeling adventurous, may we suggest some dog hair on the dress? 😎✨💃🏽 by @dogslikeash
