WALLY IS HOME!!!! 🏡❤️ Wally spent the last 6 years of his 7 years of life in a shelter, anxious and overwhelmed. He went from pacing back and forth with his emotional support bowl and licking the walls to having a home and licking the face of his new mom!! Thank you to everyone who helped get Wally seen! To celebrate National Rescue Dog Day, we are highlighting this absolutely perfect angel, Punky! She has been waiting for her forever home for over THREE YEARS! Let’s make this National Rescue Dog Day her last one without a family!Punky was rescued in the Los Angeles area from a life where she had been misused for profit by a breeder, forced to have litter after litter. And when they were done with her? They planned to dump her at the shelter, like trash.Thankfully, the @lange_foundation stepped in to rescue her and give her the medical care she neededNow, three years later, Punky is happy, healthy… and still waiting patiently for someone to choose her. This girl is ALL heart. She is the epitome of resilience, of joy, of unconditional love.Punky doesn’t act her age (9) — in fact, she’s the first to run up and show off her tricks, sit politely, and shake your hand. She adores people, especially children, and she brings joy wherever she goes. Every time @lange_foundation visits a school or do an event, Punky is the one they bring. She’s a snuggler, a kisser, a sweetheart who wants nothing more than to curl up beside you and love you with her whole heart. After everything she’s been through, Punky still chooses love.National Rescue Dog Day is day meant to honor dogs just like Punky. It’s a day to raise awareness for dogs in shelters who are still waiting for their forever home. About Wally:Wally is a sweet 7.5-year-old terrier mix who is big fan of playtime! Wally loves all kinds of toys—balls, ropes, squeaky toys, and more. He’ll happily trade toys for other toys or tasty treats, making him a fun and engaging playmate. Wally is a bit timid with new people while in his kennel, but once he’s out, he’s much more open and friendly. He’s great with basic commands like “sit” and “down” and is always ready to please. On the leash, Wally can pull a little but listens well to corrections. Because of his energetic and playful nature, Wally would do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with adults or teens over 17, as he is a timid dog who enjoys a low-key life. Meet Captain, a three-legged pup who has survived a gunshot wound & amputation. Captain has spent over a year in his rescue’s care without a SINGLE adoption application 😢Captain was found as a young puppy dragging his mangled back leg through the streets of Puerto Rico. X-rays revealed a BULLET lodged in this poor boy’s spine, meaning someone shot this innocent puppy. Thankfully, @nearandfaraf took Captain in where he continued to recover from his surgery ❤️‍🩹This sweet boy needs to wear diapers, but that doesn’t stop his zest for life! He is the sweetest and happiest guy in the world, and any family would be lucky to have him. Yet, due to his disabilities, Captain has been with the rescue for over a year. This confident, exuberant boy deserves to find a loving forever home. Elsie’s journey in recovery continues, and we are so grateful for your support in helping her along the way! Last month, Elsie was found abandoned in the side of the road, suffering from injuries she received from being used as a bait dog. The condition the heroes of the @phillybullyteam found her in was beyond words.During her recent 2-week check-up, all of her sutures from the extensive surgeries to repair her shattered jaw and the injuries on her legs have been removed. She’s now able to start increasing her activity level—an important milestone in her long road to healing. Despite everything, Elsie’s gentle spirit never faltered.Elsie’s fight to recover is far from over. The surgeries to save her life, especially her shattered jaw, have been extensive, and the total cost of her care is expected to exceed $15,000. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and we’re celebrating by spotlighting heartwarming adoption stories shared with us!Meet Stanley (@bearandstanley) who went from shelter pup to living his best life with his new family.Stanley was found abandoned in a crate at a Minnesota dog park in Woodbury in September of 2022. He was adopted from Minnesota Animal Humane Society (@animalhumanemn) shortly after. Stanley’s family says it was only his first day “on the floor” before they took him home. Fast forward—he’s living his best life with his brother Bear and is as snug as a bug in a rug in his epic bed! Stanley is loved more than words can express!Have your own rescue story? Happy National Rescue Dog Day! Meet @bunbun__cinnabun__ 😍 Cinnabun is a 1-year-old neutered male, Cattle-Dog mix, weighing 58 lbs. A few months ago, Cinnabun and his sister Nala were found at a construction site near LAX and taken to the West LA Shelter. Cinnabun was initially so frightened that he wouldn’t leave his cubby for days. Fortunately, having Nala by his side brought comfort until she was quickly rescued, leaving Cinnabun feeling a bit lonely 🥺 Thanks to the amazing volunteers at the WLA shelter, Cinnabun is now in foster care, and looking for his forever home. Cinnabun will thrive in a dog-savvy home with experience with his breed and someone who can appreciate his intelligence and loving nature.He is incredibly smart, loyal, loving and handsome. He is young and playful but knows how to calm himself down when it’s time to relax. He is an obedient and well-behaved dog, showing affection to dogs and people regardless of size. He is very affectionate, has a delicate soul, and loves to cuddle. With people he is a little bit shy at first but warms up quickly.
