✔️ Loyal
✔️ Focused
✔️ Intense
✔️ Undeniably present

Traits in something or someone that can be overwhelming at times. We don’t run into dogs like this often. Chai is a dog who loves intensely, carries an unmistakable calm, confident energy, sets fair boundaries with other dogs while continuing to teach them.....and as might be expected, suffers no fools. Not exactly an easy one to responsibly place. Combine that with a bite history, and we are at a whole next level of mindfulness regarding a potential placement.

Did I mention it’s an incredibly athletic, lean 77 lb 3.5 yo Rottweiler?

Chai has been with us for over 730 days. 2 years. Since she was just 18 months old. She came from a wonderful family who recognized her natural intensity, and was proactive with her early training. However, despite their efforts she became increasingly reactive on leash. We had just met the family and started lessons for the reactivity. During this time, she delivered a serious bite to Dad which resulted from redirecting while she was reacting to another dog on leash. Because of this escalating behavior, they made the difficult decision to euthanize her.
We knew her enough already to know she could be a balanced dog and safely be part of a family someday…

Chai has continued to mentor dogs - many that found themselves at the same point in their lives with their humans… talking about euthanasia. The number of dogs she has saved from that fate is growing with every day. And they are each living out their lives now with so much more freedom. They’ve had their day. But Chai continued to wait for hers.

Someday…
05/27/2026

Well that day finally came last week, May 27th 2026. That was the 2nd anniversary of Chai joining FCAR and it was also her adoption day!

I did a thing. I adopted her. Me.....Thomas. Don’t like to say much, but I wanted to announce this myself. And no, AI did not write this.

Teddy lost his family today. He presents as a very overstimulated/over aroused young pup looking for some clarity. I’ll be featuring him as we work with him to decompress. He has quite an aversion to collars and things over his head so I’ll be working on that first- once we get him a little more regulated & relaxed.

We don’t feel sorry for Teddy - instead we see where he could use some guidance & are honored to provide him some clarity in a world filled with humans that generally expect dogs to speak english 🫶 taken in Blaine Kennels by @dogsquadtraining

We are excited to introduce Brie 💗 This gal has an extreme history of crate & separation anxiety (which has required surgery numerous times) & dog aggression. Because she has busted through doors & crates previously & escaped a kennel run at a vet clinic, this is an all-hands on deck case for our training team.

We love a challenge & miss Brie needs some serious intervention to get her back into balance. As you can imagine, this is all very stressful for her human as well.

Brie is 9 years old but that doesn’t mean she can’t learn how to feel differently about boundaries humans are setting for her🤙

We hit the ground running (well, walking very slowly actually 😂) & then continued the crate work we started at her initial evaluation. She’s with our head trainers so she has humans nearby 24/7 at this stage in her journey with the added benefit of having a balanced pack in their home to set the tone of calmness 🫶

Welcome to the @dogsquadtraining pack Brie! taken in Blaine Kennels by @dogsquadtraining

Helping dogs understand how to just share space with each other is an important step in integrating a new dog into your pack.

These 3 got into a fight when their well meaning humans tried introducing the new dog into their home. They reached out for help & this is only their second lesson. They are putting in the work & it’s paying off. 👏

If you need help with your pack, reach out!

We curated our travel pack to help Goose feel better about strangers. Here we have him romping around right next to a kid’s water slide — with our girl Chai. Chai LOVES humans. Adults and even more if it’s a child. Goose struggles with both.

Chai being the absolute opposite around them is a great way to help us communicate to Goose that they are nothing to be concerned about. We’ve worked hard this entire trip so he knows we are advocating for him & he is safe. We can’t deny he is a LGD & his instincts are going to kick in & he will alert. That’s ok. We can have limits to how much alerting he does though & help him understand that in regular day-to-day scenarios it isn’t needed. People will be out and about— that is normal. We can save the alerting for when something is abnormal. At the end of the day, how he FEELS when he is alerting is what is important to us.

We strive to develop your dog into a better version of themselves - we don’t “fix” dogs, we aren’t mechanics 😂. We just help them get to a better place & show you how to communicate better with them.

Goose is with us on an Adventure Board & Train in Utah, at a campground because he needs to work on his stranger danger & over-alertness. There is nothing better than a cool place to hang where your neighbors change almost daily, as we work on this.

Helping Goose balance between his instincts (he is a Pyrenees / maremma after all) & what his actual role is with his pack is the secret sauce for him.

Goose is doing great & we are so very proud of him 👏👏
