✔️ Loyal
✔️ Focused
✔️ Intense
✔️ Undeniably present

Traits in something or someone that can be overwhelming at times. We don’t run into dogs like this often. Chai is a dog who loves intensely, carries an unmistakable calm, confident energy, sets fair boundaries with other dogs while continuing to teach them.....and as might be expected, suffers no fools. Not exactly an easy one to responsibly place. Combine that with a bite history, and we are at a whole next level of mindfulness regarding a potential placement.

Did I mention it’s an incredibly athletic, lean 77 lb 3.5 yo Rottweiler?

Chai has been with us for over 730 days. 2 years. Since she was just 18 months old. She came from a wonderful family who recognized her natural intensity, and was proactive with her early training. However, despite their efforts she became increasingly reactive on leash. We had just met the family and started lessons for the reactivity. During this time, she delivered a serious bite to Dad which resulted from redirecting while she was reacting to another dog on leash. Because of this escalating behavior, they made the difficult decision to euthanize her.
We knew her enough already to know she could be a balanced dog and safely be part of a family someday…

Chai has continued to mentor dogs - many that found themselves at the same point in their lives with their humans… talking about euthanasia. The number of dogs she has saved from that fate is growing with every day. And they are each living out their lives now with so much more freedom. They’ve had their day. But Chai continued to wait for hers.

Someday…
05/27/2026

Well that day finally came last week, May 27th 2026. That was the 2nd anniversary of Chai joining FCAR and it was also her adoption day!

I did a thing. I adopted her. Me.....Thomas. Don’t like to say much, but I wanted to announce this myself. And no, AI did not write this.

Thank you everyone who supports @finalchanceanimalrescue , @blainekennels , and @dogsquadtraining .

Teddy lost his family today. He presents as a very overstimulated/over aroused young pup looking for some clarity. I’ll be featuring him as we work with him to decompress. He has quite an aversion to collars and things over his head so I’ll be working on that first- once we get him a little more regulated & relaxed.

We don’t feel sorry for Teddy - instead we see where he could use some guidance & are honored to provide him some clarity in a world filled with humans that generally expect dogs to speak english 🫶

We are excited to introduce Brie 💗 This gal has an extreme history of crate & separation anxiety (which has required surgery numerous times) & dog aggression. Because she has busted through doors & crates previously & escaped a kennel run at a vet clinic, this is an all-hands on deck case for our training team.

We love a challenge & miss Brie needs some serious intervention to get her back into balance. As you can imagine, this is all very stressful for her human as well.

Brie is 9 years old but that doesn’t mean she can’t learn how to feel differently about boundaries humans are setting for her🤙

We hit the ground running (well, walking very slowly actually 😂) & then continued the crate work we started at her initial evaluation. She’s with our head trainers so she has humans nearby 24/7 at this stage in her journey with the added benefit of having a balanced pack in their home to set the tone of calmness 🫶

Welcome to the @dogsquadtraining pack Brie!

Helping dogs understand how to just share space with each other is an important step in integrating a new dog into your pack.

These 3 got into a fight when their well meaning humans tried introducing the new dog into their home. They reached out for help & this is only their second lesson. They are putting in the work & it’s paying off. 👏

If you need help with your pack, reach out!

Zoe + Barley are new siblings. When their humans first introduced them, they were lunging & barking at each other. Instead of giving up, they reached out for help.
They both did board & train program (we have a really good system on coordinating multi-dog household board & train programs 😉) & now enjoy each other’s company.

We love helping people bring their pack into balance & we love families that are willing to put in the work! In Zoe & Barley’s honor, we are offering a special deal for multi-dog households— book an evaluation for one dog & get your second dog’s evaluation FREE (use code TRAINMYDOG when booking the 2nd evaluation). Plus, when you book a board & train for one dog, we’ll give you 50% off the second dog’s board & train.

We can only offer this deal to 2 families. Let us help your dogs 💕

I’ve been holding an annual women’s event at @blainekennels since I joined the team over 3 years ago & they still are my absolute favorite events. The goal? To get women together (with their dogs) as we work together, as a supportive community, to better understand our dogs’ behaviors… which in turn is better understanding ourselves. It is such a magical event, every year. The feeling of community is hard to describe but being surrounded by other women that are all showing up for themselves & their dogs — with no judgement — is just magical.

You’ll learn so much about yourself, your dog, & you’ll walk away with a better relationship. No matter what behaviors your dog is displaying that you’d like help with — we will help!

This year we are bringing the amazing @jo_and_jaxx_dog_psychology back for a 2 day long event for you — and we have special tickets for dog trainers (3 day long event for you!).

AFTERPAY options available as well!

When: June 20 & 21st
Where: @blainekennels

If you are traveling, we will board your dog at no charge 😉

Tickets: blainekennels.com/events
AfterPay tickets: blainekennels.square.site

Behind the scenes with a human & dog reactive dog. How do we handle dogs like this? Much different than most think. In Elmo’s case, she needs a soft but firm energy. Someone to set boundaries with her so she knows what you want but you can’t hold onto the fact that she may have acted like she wanted to bite you a moment ago. Elmo helps you stay in the moment - & we appreciate her for that 🙏

If your dog is reactive to humans or dogs (or both), the one thing we’d love for you to take away is that they aren’t just giving you a hard time (even though it’s super embarrassing & stressful)— they are having a hard time.

We’d love to help you both with that.
