A decadent plate.

Dogstar is turning one year old.

Thank you to our team, our guests, our suppliers, our neighbours and everyone in Leith who has backed us from day one. In twelve months we’ve been listed in the Michelin Guide, placed 51st in the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 and been shortlisted for Food and Travel’s Restaurant of the Year: Newcomer. We’re proud of that. We’re prouder of the people who got us there.

So come and celebrate with us. Sunday 1 November, 12pm–7pm. It’s not ticketed. If you’re a regular, a supplier, a local business or a mate, just come by for a boogie.

Throwback to the end of September, when Dogstar took over the Hatch.

Jimmy, Kyle and Mikey rolling back the years on the jambon-beurres. Tunes from @lukelavolpe, @tobymottershead, @nic_mercer and @dannyscrimshaw. Not a stool spare.

Cheers to @dogstarleith, @jimmysnaps, @kylethomasjamieson and @lynch_mjay, with @pilotbeeruk and @remymartin on the drinks - and of course to everyone who came down for it!

EPISODE 1: I asked an Edinburgh chef where I should eat next… and this is where he sent me. 👀

📌 SAVE this series for the places hospitality thinks are actually worth your money.

If you’re new here, I’ve started getting my hands on the Little Black Books of chefs, bartenders, sommeliers and some of my favourite people in hospitality.

The deal is simple.

They tell me where they actually eat and drink when they’re off the clock.

I work my way through their recommendations.

And the ones I genuinely love earn a place in my own Little Black Book.

First to send me somewhere was Barry from @barryfishrestaurant in Leith, and his choice was @dogstarleith .

A place that had been sitting on my list for far too long, so I didn’t exactly need much convincing.

You can hear my full verdict in the Reel, but the short version?

Barry knows what he’s talking about.

Dogstar has officially earned its place in my Little Black Book. ✓

And because apparently I enjoy making my restaurant wish list completely unmanageable, I also got the Dogstar team to hand over their Little Black Book while I was there.

I’m not giving those away just yet, but there are some VERY good names on it.

One recommendation leads to another… 👀

Seasonal Collins.

We preserved elderflower at its best and turned it into a cordial, so we can keep that floral, aromatic flavour going as the colder months come in.

On the menu for a few more weeks.
