Mês passado visitei a maravilhosa #edimburgo e pude aprender um pouquinho sobre o tradicional tecido xadrez da Escócia, o tartã.
Caminhando pela cidade, conheci ‘tartan’ Heather, uma escocesa estilosa que passa os dias trabalhando em seu moinho de mão. Heather utiliza lã de ovelha da região para criar peças grossas e resistentes. Ela me contou que, após separa-la e desembaraça-la, a lã é torcida à mão com um fuso para formar o fio. O fuso é girado para entrelaçar as fibras, criando um fio forte o suficiente para ser tecido❤️.
Heather ainda tinge as peças sem utilizar nenhuma química. A que está no meu pescoço, na foto, foi tingida com cúrcuma e romã.
Além do encontro com essa típica escocesa, visitei uma feirinha de artistas locais num prédio lindíssimo, com um dos tetos restaurados mais antigos do país. Vi também muitas lojas com inúmeros tipos de tartãs, e pude perceber um incentivo bacana à moda circular por lá🙏🏼 Foi uma viagem inesquecível :)

Last month I visited the wonderful Edinburgh and learned a little about the traditional Scottish tartan fabric.
Walking around the city, I met ‘tartan’ Heather, a stylish Scottish woman who spends her days working at her hand mill. Heather uses local sheep’s wool to create thick and resistant pieces. She told me that, after separating and untangling it, the wool is hand-twisted with a spindle to form yarn. The spindle is turned to intertwine the fibers, creating a yarn strong enough to be woven❤️.
Heather also dyes her pieces without using any chemicals. The one around my neck, in the photo, was dyed with turmeric and pomegranate.
In addition to meeting this typical Scottish woman, I visited a local artists’ fair in a beautiful building, with one of the oldest restored ceilings in the country. I also saw many stores with different types of tartans, and I could see a great incentive for circular fashion there🙏🏼 It was an unforgettable trip :)

The energy today was jubilant 🌸 Folks were blossoming, coming out of their shells, and trying new things. I loved meeting the new scrap and yappers and catching up with our returning friends. Y'all should know this is my favorite part by now ❤️

I love staring at these collages we made last night and learning about what people took from the word "interconnection". It felt like heaven being in a room full of open minded people. Sometimes hesitant to be the first one up but with the support of strangers, you can't help but feel strength in your words and the pictures you chose to represent your art.

The past weekend was filled with art, culture and sun.
Friday night was time to check out exhibitions, workshops and live music during @museumnachtmaastricht
The rest of the weekend was for cycling, llama watching and holes fixing.

Sincerely feel so grateful when I leave a Scrap N' Yap. I'm always so impressed by the people who come and share their stories and their art. All Levels Are Welcomed. ESPECIALLY those who have never collaged before.
