There was a time we never thought we would finish school.
Life tested us in ways that demanded real inner work just to survive, let alone succeed.

That’s why trusting yourself matters. You’ve already overcome more than you give yourself credit for.

And the same principle applies to how we treat one another.

If I say I’ll stand by you, I mean it.
If something needs fixing, I’ll give it my full effort.

But I won’t accept disrespect.

There is always a better way to communicate.
Constructive criticism isn’t about diminishing someone — it’s about acknowledging their strengths while guiding them toward growth.

Respect must be mutual.

Many people learned how to criticize.
Far fewer learned how to lead.

Leadership requires patience. It requires compassion. It requires the willingness to help someone grow, not just point out where they fall short.

Sometimes people advertise those qualities.
Easier to persuade folks of character than a gauge of actual character.
& some use it for control.
I hope you get to learn the difference.

Living them is different.

Disrespect wrapped as a joke…
One learns the need for better boundaries.

We don’t do character assassination.
When we see red flags in someone,
We simply gather some distance.

Let them stew in their own “funny” little world.
Maybe they’ve got things to figure out still.
Until they do, they’ll keep projecting onto others.

Much compassion.
But I don’t value how insensitive we can get toward fellow humans just to cloak our own insecurities.

Bro, let’s talk about your conduct, when you blur the line between professionalism and a risqué jab to provoke a reaction.

I wasn’t going to hold back on this one.

Because some people make others uncomfortable
to mask their own hidden agenda.
Turning someone into a laughing stock for things that aren’t even true to mock.

It’s even diabolical when it’s true.
Cause now you just make people feel real shitty to be around you.

Do better.

Working on patience has been a quiet practice for me lately.
I no longer crave immediacy, and the fear of loneliness faded a long time ago.

I feel grounded in where I stand and clear about the direction I’m moving in.

When I deeply care about someone, I give wholeheartedly.
At the same time, I’ve learned that I can’t pour from an empty cup.
So I take responsibility for filling my own—gently, honestly, and without guilt.

And I hope others feel empowered to do the same for themselves.

When people show up full, the exchange becomes intentional, sustainable, and respectful.

Legends understand this bit & they don’t take it personally.
They recognize it as care—with boundaries.

You’d be infatuated with the journey, but hate to carry its lessons or bear the weight of its consequences.

Be yourself. Life has a way to filter people out.

Always move with respect and love.

Can brown people really learn from others?

Is it that we choose our ringmaster for the clown show we participate in?

Or do we collectively suffer from the “I know everything, you dipsh*t. I’m forever right, so tui ke madarchod” syndrome?

Or… are we so stunted by our belief systems and immeasurable inferiority complex that we’ve learned to abolish perspectives that don’t fit our portrayal of self?

So we resort to resentment and, more often than not, make it a cultural issue.

Denial and ignorance for the collective clown show.

Are we actually equipped to sit with our own thoughts, challenge them, and differentiate what is worth learning from the outdated data we’ve been carrying around?

Can we ever truly change?

Or do we simply perform as change agents when it serves our agenda?

And then scrap it all when nobody’s watching.

The morals.
The values.
The ethics.

I’m more than aware that human beings aren’t meant for perfection.

We’re contradictory. We’re flawed. We’re going to fuck up.

Trying to be perfectly consistent can make us look more like robots than human beings.

But maybe the goal was never perfection.

Maybe it’s just having enough humility to admit we could be wrong.

Enough courage to learn.

Enough self-awareness to notice when we’re performing.

And enough integrity to keep trying when nobody’s watching.

Can we try?

I wear labels that I have no desire to address anymore. The same labels people use as a lens to see me through.

I’m no longer that person.

And you can’t grow in a belief system rooted in a gaze of shame and guilt.

Some people just forget to look in the mirror before pointing out the flaws of others. And that says a lot about people.

It’s easier to admire humans from a distance.

Because the voice I have, whether it’s cringe, hardened, soft, and comforting… cost me a ton.

It cost me being a “good obedient” son.
Being a “good” friend.
A “good” nephew.
A “good” husband… while it lasted.

I don’t detest the pain. I had to embrace it. For without it, I would be someone without a backbone.

Yeah, we may be difficult to love. But that was never the intention, though… likability.

It should never come at the cost of being unable to call ourselves out on the things we say that are unkind, trying to do better, or calling out the things said and done by others.

Be kind to yourself.
Or else you would struggle being kind to others.
It bleeds in ways that’s hard to detect.

Much love!

💭 Let me cook.

It’s easy to play the fool.

Let them believe they’re fooling you.
Roll with it.
Let them have it.
Simple.

Learn to differentiate non-negotiable discussions from absolute hogsh*t ones.

Save your time, energy, and relationships (if you still care, that is).

You gotta let people live in their imagination.

And let’s bring some humility into the mix.

Don’t we all take turns being the fool intentionally for our loved ones from time to time?

The way scarcity can hit some people and shape the way we perceive other humans… abundance does the opposite to the mind.

This is completely mental.

You can feel at peace with all that you already have.
Or you can look at others, use excuses to feel poorly about yourself, and inflict harm on others with an even poorer mindset.

Human beings are not tools to use.

Lastly, a pro tip:

When you come across a narcissistic personality, or finally spot one (whoever they may be), you deal with them by learning to say “no.”

Watch them lose their mind and their world.

Stay frosty.
And have good intentions.

Make sure we’re not blaming anyone for our circumstances and thus decide what’s best for us, regardless of the desires we hold. It’s a constant battle, and one can learn to do better.

Before blaming anyone else, ask yourself: What part of this am I accountable for? Change that bit, and let the rest go.

“We suffer more in our imagination than in reality…” and I think I’m finally starting to grasp it.

Because if our natural response is to hold others accountable for our choices, and blame them when things go wrong, we’re not doing ourselves any favours by staying trapped in that loop of remorse, guilt, and anger.

Accountability gives us something to work with. Blame keeps us stuck in what already happened.

Something about brown society that’s very performative.

You either play the game or people play you.

You do it “nicely.”
Or you do it by playing the victim.

“Growth mindset” is a buzzword and a trend.

We have a lot to learn from life.
Not from those who can’t stop talking about themselves.

Some of us were born to taste food, share it with acquaintances wherever we are, briefly feel part of the crowd, make memories… and never build a cage around it.

Some of us ask people not to go overboard for us, to find expectations waiting on the other side.

Come on, man…

They call it love.
We could never understand it.

A sense of belonging in a brown culture… good luck finding it without obligations.

Reflecting inward for growth and change? No.
Compete. Control. Label others.
Reverse the discourse.

It’s grim and gnarly when we realize people only want us to do better if they are doing better than us.

Learning our own biases and hypocrisy can lead us to this door.

A door to solitude.
To the pain.
To the outcasts.
To an honourable life.

Not a social one, though.

Some of us don’t carry the burden of being accepted just for the sake of it.

Out of respect,
we let go of the competitor friend who could never find peace, who always needed to prove their worth.

Out of respect,
we gather distance from the imaginary ones, the people life has beaten down to a pulp.

They need to save themselves.

Out of respect for ourselves,
when life humbles us in ways we don’t understand, we choose to befriend humility and compassion.

We could never embody a strategy for life.
And however we learned to move… we learned to do it wholeheartedly.

Money matters will quickly expose relationships if they have been a foe all along.

Forget acknowledgement for the way we show up.

You’re judged heavily when you finally choose to divest.

It just wasn’t working anymore.

So, we slowly disappear into the crowd.

We stay curious and learn not to attach ourselves.

We learn to fill our cup.
Support the ones who seek to learn a little differently than most.

That’s courage.

Audacity we keep in our back pocket.

It scares people.
Empty table better than unspoken conditions.
