I'm grateful to be recognized for doing what I love: storytelling.

Storytelling kept me sane growing up mostly alone as an only child. I would talk to thin air, build stories from eavesdropped snippets of conversation, talk to furniture and appliances and...yes Couchizzy, thanks for warning me about Elder Ruggie and Mr. Broom Stick, they just don't like each other.

To be acknowledged, to be applauded, to be appreciated, for keeping my sanity is insane! I love it!

I'll keep telling stories till I draw my last breath. This is my life. This is Me. Donald Tombia. One who tells stories.

Else, he goes insane. by @donaldtombia

And we're goiiiiinnnnng to Enuuuuuugggggguuuuuuuuuuu!

I define a story as something interesting happening to someone you care about in a place you know.

Regardless of culture, language, or country, the definition remains the same. In fact, you can argue that the true test of a story is whether the audience watches something interesting happening to someone they've been made to care about in a place so grounded, it invokes farsickness.

I had the privilege of watching Holy Water, the Iranian film which was in competition for Best Short Film at the just concluded Ibadan International Film Festival, and I must say it's a beautiful, poignant story which says a lot with minimal dialogue in a short runtime. It is a good, solid, well-shot and well-told story.

It's no surprise though. Just as beautiful as their film, if not more so, are the Directors @esmail_ramezani1991 & @marzieh.baniali . Interesting people make the best films. If you get the chance to watch Holy Water, you'll concur.

Thank you @official_iiff for bringing us together. 🥂to more.

If you see Holy Water, then you'll see a story that has an interesting phenomenon happening to an old man you'll be made to care about, in a place you'll realize you recognise...despite, probably, never having gone there.
