Publisher nai010 invited me to write something small about 'Best Verzorgde Boeken'. I chose my all-time favorite: (un)expected by Peter Dekens.

To have an idea: during my most difficult period -the passing of my mother -working on this project gave me a sense of community and warm support. While I am a harsh critic of my own work, this project is an exception; the structure and the small / big decisions remain intuitive, natural and comfortable to me.

I thank ideabooks team for inviting me to this project. Plus! working with Johannes (Schwartz) was the best thing; we didn't have to explain so much to each other. And Stefano @stefanovanderknaap from Robstolk helped this book realize its best form.

Indeed, this project brought back to me, the joy of working together with good people again.

And most of all; we were able to save these books from the horrible incidents. Happy to be able to celebrate 50th birthday of ideabooks with this one. Long live Ideabooks :D taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @dongyoungleee

10 years of TALKER!
On Friday 27 March we celebrate 10 years of TALKER, the interview zine about performance by Giles Bailey, with the launch of TALKER No. 16 and live performances by Giles Bailey and Martín La Roche.

TALKER publishes long-form interviews with artists working innovatively with live practice.

Issue 16 is a conversation with @martinlarochec , whose works takes collections of objects, memories and archives as models of storytelling, reassembling them into installations, performances and publications. In 2017 he founded the Musée Légitime: a museum inside a hat, now home to 205 works by different artists.

Giles Bailey ( @worldissudden ) works with performance, using texts, video fragments and choreographies to explore how knowledge and meaning are generated through relationships with others.

Perhaps it looks familiar?

For this project, we printed a unique and limited series of three newspaper-style volumes developed by artist @ingemeijer___ and designer @dongyoungleee, created in the context of the exhibition ‘As Within, So Without’.

Their project takes ‘Goed Wonen’ magazine as a starting point, drawing inspiration from its visual language while looking at post-war Dutch living rooms and the quiet but important role of plants within them.  
The exhibition is on view at @vaneesterenmuseum in Amsterdam until 15 February.

For the exhibition ‘As Within, So Without’ we developed a new project focusing on the ‘Goed Wonen’ magazine and drew inspiration from the visual language of these publications.

In collaboration with graphic designer Dongyoung Lee we have looked at the role that plant life and plant material played from the post- war reconstruction period until the emancipation movements of the 1960s and 1970s in the Netherlands. It's been interesting to see how ideas about interiors and the relationship between inside and outside spaces evolved over time.
