This past May, I had the opportunity to revisit and record the incredible Sequenza 7b by Luciano Berio! This has been a work that has lived with me for more than 17 years now and I am proud to have recorded this live in Paris! 🎷

On an absolute high after a fantastic concert @necmusic in this incredible acoustic at Jordan Hall! 🎷

It was an absolute honor to perform music by incredible composers John Mallia (Interzonal Hap), Katarina Miljkovic (If in a Winter…), Stratis Minakakis (For Felipe M.), and the world premiere of Robin Meeker-Cummings work “Concurrence”! Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome, the incredible audience reception, and to all of those that made my residency at NEC possible! Many, many live recordings coming soon - so be on the lookout! 🙏😍

I’ve really been enjoying my time living and working in Arizona - the desert has been good to me! My students are thriving, my routine is pretty regular, I’ve made countless connections with new friends and colleagues! 🌵 I must say, though, I really enjoyed having my husband here with me last week - felt whole again! ❤️ He might just have to up and move here with me! 😜🙈 no one captures me quite like @karel.vlae captures me 😘

🍂 A few weeks ago, Chaya Czernowin (@chayaczernowin7) and I released a video of my performance of her “The last leaf” in a new arrangement I made for soprano saxophone!

Inspired by O. Henry’s short story, this extraordinary piece explores two contrasting musical worlds: one fragile and delicate, the other vast and expansive. As the music unfolds, these two characters slowly intertwine until one ultimately prevails. Which one? I’ll leave that for you to decide! 🍃

This Saturday, September 26, we are very excited to share the YouTube premiere 🎥 of “…and the very dust…” by Thomas Santore (@thomas_santore), written especially for FLUX Duo, Daniel Linder (@daniel_linder_piano) and Don-Paul Kahl (@donpaul.saxo). 🎷🎹

Inspired by Italo Calvino’s writing on lightness, “…and the very dust…” offers a kind of musical rebuttal, questioning the possibility of freedom from the weight of reality. Through subtle textures and shifting intensities, the work draws an increasing sense of weight from musical material initially presented as “light.”

We had the pleasure of performing this work throughout our tour this past spring, culminating in this live recording at Harvard University’s 50 Church Street Studio. We are very happy to finally share it with you!
