KRUZ’ had one more stop lined up on a long festival run, and it was in Oslo, at the @icebergfilmawards . I’m pleased to announce that it won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY, and was nominated for BEST PICTURE, BEST DIRECTING, and BEST SOUND DESIGN.
What a journey that was ! What a treat!
Thanks to my soul brother @aymericlaloux , who co-signed the script, @anthony_dupuy_ and @abbazabaphotos . who scored, @benjidelldp who handled principal photography, and all the good souls involved: my producers, @_just_plain_jane, Anna Rybchenkov and Martina Schmidt. And of course, of course, @mabactor Michael Andrew Barker who gave his talent and passion to a very flawed and pretty fucked Jonny Favorite, @audreylooye, @Lexi Contursi, @mattiusfoxius , and the one and only, @ericrobertsactor !
We recently had the pleasure to screen it in front of a small audience, thanks to mister @alvarez________ and liz, alongside Terminus VI and a fresh cut of As Above So Below. And we cannot wait to share it with you as well.

Happy Monday folks!
In addition to wining Best Micro Short and Best Production Design, Terminus VI was nominated in 4 categories at the Amsterdam Underground Cinefest: Best Lead Actress (2nd nomination for Lauren Alexandra Lewis in this category), Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Cinematography.

This short was my first collaboration with Lauren. Although tempting on the paper, working with your lover can be a dangerous exercise. But her passion and commitment to the material were both refreshing and infectious, leading me to stop procrastinating about production design and using the skills I had learned doing home improvements to build sets and props.

Between rounds of rehearsal fine tuning her Shakespeare Kung Fu, Lauren designed all the costumes. I couldn’t refrain from dropping a few design notes here and there, yet she did all the heavy lifting and created 4 strong characters for herself as well as her scene partners!

I decided to shoot the film with only 2 lenses: my good old Helios 44 for the Elizabethan time period as well as the retro-futuristic segment, and a vintage Nikon for the 70’s and the 2000’s timelines. I also finally got to play with a stocking placed between the sensor and the lens and you know what? It was as ghetto as it was efficient!

I confess wasting too much time reading about new gears sometime. Those people… When they’re not whining about dynamic range or rolling shutter, they seem to focus the bulk of their energy on unboxing videos so maybe it’s a sign I should look away. My camera is 6 or 7 years old. An underdog made in China that served me pretty well over the years. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love an Alexa 35, but until then, I’ll keep running with what I have!

All of that to say, you can make cool stuff with little to no budget, and whatever gears you have.

TERMINUS VI won best Micro Short and best Production Design & Art Direction at the Amsterdam Underground Cinefest. In addition, it was nominated for Best Film, Best Directing, Best Lead Actress and Best Cinematography.

Over the years, I gradually moved from 3D and concept to Creative Director and Directing, and it’s exciting to see that the skills I gathered during this journey are finding a nurturing terrain to blossom. by @dontcomeknockingproduction

Making a film isn’t easy, finishing it is hard, and getting it to be seen is almost impossible, especially in this age of short attention span. So we humbly welcome this accolade from our friends in Faro, Portugal. Two new wins for Terminus VI, a Micro-Short (6min) based on a monologue by William Shakespeare, with a fun narrative spin to it.
Hats of to the good souls who helped us in the process, in front (John C. Sweet, Larry Yust, Lucie) or behind the camera - my VFX & concept art folks, Giorgio Iovino, Carlos Arl, Till Nowak, Abba Zaba for the score, and Sterling Hundley for the glorious poster.
Lauren, in addition to interpreting 4 different versions of her character, also tackled costumes and production. On this one, I got to have fun building a few props, a set, and... the usual stuff.
Let’s see where the wind takes us.
