“No one is going to give you the education you need to overthrow them. Nobody is going to teach you your true history, teach you your true heroes, if they know that that knowledge will help set you free.”

I find myself returning to the origins of H. Rap Brown—how a boy shaped by family, neighborhood, and the pulse of his community grew into a voice too clear, too fearless, to ever be ignored. His fire didn’t emerge from nowhere; it was carved from experience, sharpened by truth.

In the November 23, 1967 issue of The Black Panther, he appears as Chairman of SNCC-steady, unwavering, and speaking with the kind of conviction that still echoes.

H. Rap Brown remains innocent of the charges brought against him, standing by his TRUTH.

Honoring Imam Jamil Al-Amin.

“He who feeds you, controls you.”
Thomas Sankara’s warning meets Frantz Fanon’s truth:
colonialism is violence in its purest form a system that only yields when confronted and dismantled.

Inspired by the bold visual language of African barbershop signs, this DSI poster pairs Sankara’s words
with Fanon’s analysis to remind us:

Decolonization begins in the mind, the home, and the spaces we claim.

Assata Shakur stood unbent in the face of an empire built on Native genocide and African enslavement. Her passing reminds us: resistance is the highest form of honor and a revolutionary spirit is eternal. Rest in Peace & Power! #assatashakur #freecongo #freesudan #freepalestine by @dontsleepint

The African proverb “If the full moon loves you, why worry about the stars?” has multiple meanings, but it generally conveys the idea of going to places where you are celebrated and loved, rather than where you are ignored. I’m so late posting this but we are so thrilled to have had our wall prints featured in Hell’s Kitchen star Maleah Joi Moon’s dressing room! Maleah won her first Tony award in June for Leading Actress in a Musical. We are so proud of her and we pray for her continued success.
