King Me remains at the top! You know those single barrels you just can’t get enough of? King Me is one of those. Now close to finishing my 3rd out of 5 bottles, it remains as one of my all time favorite high rye MGP bourbons and is the bottle that started it all with my @oldcypresswhiskeyco fandom. @chefjfaciane has even opened me up to more ryes, even though I’ve often said I’m not a “rye-guy,” after trying the Cherry Christmas. I can’t wait to get into the latest drop, the 13 Chambers. Will it dethrone King Me? Doubtful 🤨 but we’ll see what kinda magic the Chef has bottled this time. 🎮🥃 APPARENTLY I’M PLAYING TWO GAMES OF POKÉMON NOW. GOTTA CATCH ’EM ALL! Let’s be real. Let’s do a quick review: Nose - sweet oak and plum Palate - velvety texture, more sweet oak and vanilla. not overly oaky and not super thin like how the EC18 is. Finish - medium. No tannic bitterness you might expect with this much aging. Lingering cherry. Rating: 8.4 Thank you again Steve for this very special pour! by @dopamine_chasing_bourbon

🥃🔥 #whatsinnit Today we’re getting into a heavyweight Old Cypress showdown between Category 13 and Cherry Christmas — 🥇 Cat 13 vs. Cherry Christmas 🎨 Color: Cat 13 👃 Nose: Cat 13 — way more caramel and buttery goodness 👅 Mouthfeel: Cat 13 — smoother and more enjoyable 🔥 Finish: Cat 13 — smooth candy, spice, and less sharp overall And when the dust settled… Category 13 was the clear winner. 🏆 Both are great pours, but side by side, this one just stood out. The caramel and buttery sweetness, smooth mouthfeel, and candy-like spice on the finish made it hard to look anywhere else. Sometimes you don’t need a complicated review. 13 Chambers by @oldcypresswhiskeyco The latest release from @chefjfaciane this 13 year MGP rye spent 145 days in one of his custom barrels, developing further depth and complexity. Despite being only 107.6 proof, it has a rich dark color to it. Nose: orange peel and bruleed sugar Palate: velvety texture. Sweet vanilla and oak with stewed cherries. Finish: long. candied rye spice and luxardo cherry syrup These tasting notes may seem simplified but they continue to evolve with each sip. This is a decadent, absolute monster of a pour with so much depth and zero ethanol burn. Dangerously sippable, this is most definitely a Cherry Christmas Killer. Well done, Chef! Rating: 8.9/10 most excellent! Doesn’t quite beat King Me, but that’s mostly because of my personal preference for bourbon over ryes. by @dopamine_chasing_bourbon
