First time shooting a glass demo in New York! Thanks to @sorayashock @lvckyglass and @hazeyjane_ for making a beautiful piece and showing off some techniques I'd never seen before.

And further thanks to @janefbruce @arieshoooooo and @minhcao for helping me feel welcome, and @urbanglass_nyc for hosting such a fun event 🙏🏽 taken in UrbanGlass by @dopplerfto

"What is the nature of memory?" Always a true delight to catch up with @amylemairestudio ! We inevitably end up chatting about and finding surprising similarities between her practice of glass art and mine of photography. It was also a joy to meet @marcychevali for the first time, and to witness a bit of her work. by @dopplerfto

It was so much fun to see @jacklinestudio_glass and @kinseycookglass present their demo at @bayareaglassinstitute . Based on their their years working together, Kinsey's narration of their process helped me spot details that I had never noticed before, like the twist happening in the second image. And I feel like the audience was just as enthralled — I've never seen them stay in their seats past the end of the demo like they did this time. taken in Bay Area Glass Institute by @dopplerfto

(Part 2/2) After a day full of activities, Better Together coalesced into a group demo, which ended up featuring the combined efforts of over a dozen different artists, plus a number of @pghglasscenter staff.

Happy Juneteenth! Don't forget to keep an eye on @crafting_the_future for more work and opportunities centering Black, Brown, and other BIPOC artists and craftspeople ✌🏽 taken in Pittsburgh Glass Center by @dopplerfto

The third floor at Better Together was home to the glassblowing demos, as well as the Maker Marketplace right outside the giant @pghglasscenter retracting door. It was amazing to see the similarities and differences among different styles of the "glassmaking process" — how to plan and improvise, when to add, when to take away, and even when and how to transform those bits in the first place. taken in Pittsburgh Glass Center by @dopplerfto
