Dora’s totems in the new LACMA building! What a thrilling, emotional moment to see these powerful sculptures in the new David Geffen Galleries. Thank you @lacma for including them in the galleries debut, Dora’s legacy is well deserving of this honor. If you are a fan of Dora’s work and in LA you will want to see these beautiful sentries hovering over Wilshire Blvd. #doradelarios #lacma #sculpture #ceramicsculpture #doradelarioscreatedtheamountofworkofacivilization by @doradelarios

Beautiful news for Dora’s legacy! Dora’s Seated Woman sculpture is in the @crockerart Museum’s current exhibit “Making Moves”, an important exhibit surveying a collection of feminisms. Dora’s Seated Lady is in dialog with Frida Kahlo’s Self-Portrait with Loose Hair. This is a very important placement of Dora’s work. We are thrilled for the acknowledgment and deeply appreciate the Crocker for amplifying and supporting her legacy. #doradelarios #crockerart #crockerartmuseum #midcenturymodern sculpture by @doradelarios

In 1941 the United States locked up American citizens in prison camps based on race. This is an instruction pamphlet given to Japanese American citizens when they were instructed to leave their homes, neighbors and friends, and moved into interment “camps”. This pamphlet was given to my relative. In their case, they lived in horse stalls. He and his family were forced to live in horrible conditions, and when it was over they came home to find nothing.

When Dora talked about her childhood she always recounted her love of her Japanese neighbors. She vividly remembered the day her neighbors left with only what they could carry. The interment camps are one of the stains of our history as a country. Trump wants to bring back interment camps. by @doradelarios

Wonderful Dora news to report! I am so excited to share that this gorgeous collection of Dora De Larios for Irving Place Studio is now a part of LACMA’s permanent collection.

This limited edition glazed porcelain grouping was designed and hand carved by Dora, thrown by Irving Place Studio’s production potter @dougvansickle and glazed by me. These limited edition pieces were really special to my mom (and I) because we made them together, but they are definitely 100% Dora. The glaze is amazing on these pieces, it pools lavender in the carving and on the bottom of the pieces. Dora created this glaze based on G Matt-3 but with some tweaks and additions that completely changed it - so beautiful!

Thank you so much @LAMCA for including these gorgeous pieces in your wonderful ceramic collection! #doradelarios #irvingplacestudio #LACMA by @doradelarios

Dinnerware drawings by Dora De Larios circa early 2000’s.

As I pack up my moms things I find treasure after treasure. She created these dinnerware designs for a job that didn’t go through. Three different designs were presented, this is the Fish series.
.
Hey @marimekko - what about a series by Dora De Larios?! 😊 DM me 😉.

Carved stamps by Dora 😊 When Irving Place Studio started making platters my mom suggested decorating them with carved stamps. She made this collection for me to use, I am SO LUCKY!

She made the stamps throwing little forms off the hump then waited until they were dry enough to carve the design into the form then bisque fired them and voilà! - a gorgeous stamp by Dora!

I love visiting the stamp drawer for inspiration, it’s a portal to endless design possibilities by Dora. Even though they won’t be used for clay anymore, they can be used for lots of other things! 😉
