For the fourth issue’s Studio Visit Dora Trček spoke to melanie bonajo, who “has long been a passionate advocate for marginalised communities, from those ostracised by society to those who’ve intentionally stepped away from mainstream culture to forge their own families, tribes, and ways of life, living according to alternative values and norms.”

Had the privilege of speaking with the amazing @melanie_bonajo for the new issue of @_etcmagazine, titled Comfort Zone ☁️🫧🧸🎠🍦💌 We got into the healing power of touch, fighting capitalism, censorship and oppression, activism and humor 🦋

Big thanks to the @_etcmagazine crew for having me and @zoranpungercar for the design, also congratulations - each issue just keeps raising the bar ❤️‍🔥

For the 28th Design Biennale BIO28 @bio_ljubljana, titled 𝘿𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩: 𝘿𝙤 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧?, the YASA Collective (@sara_bezovsek @asianaja @gajavicic @doratrcek) conceived the research-based art project “𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙖 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙢”, through a series of posters, which address the deep-rooted stereotypes around femininity and gender roles, exploring the intersections between women and flowers.

The topic of the poster, from which the detail above is taken, is 𝓡𝓮𝓹𝓻𝓸𝓭𝓾𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓼𝓮𝔁𝓾𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂.

The project is part of the 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙮𝙖 group, under the mentorship of Michelle Phillips @studio_yukiko and Grashina Gabelmann @flaneurmagazine and was realised as part of the BIO28 production platforms, organized by the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana @mao_slovenia and the Center for Creativity @czk_centerzakreativnost. The project is co-financed by the European union and the Republic of Slovenia.

The 28th Biennial of design, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year will take place between the 21st of November 2024 and the 6th of April 2025. by @doratrcek
