The 2025 Kendo Irish National Championships is over! An amazing two day event with record numbers of competitors. Thank you so much to the organisers and volunteers!

A big year for me as I managed to win the Open Individual title for the second time!

While in the team event my team secured some medals by coming in 3rd place!

IRELAND at the 33rd European Kendo Championship 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

It is an incredible honour and privilege for me to represent my country, but I feel an even greater pride representing Ireland along with this amazing team of people.

At the 33rd EKC in Leiden, Ireland was represented valiantly in all categories receiving recognition for her performance and growth both verbally and tangibly.

Our first three person junior team kicked things off with a strong showing against Bulgaria and Czech Republic. Our incredible Women's Team followed this up with two tense matches against France and Sweden.

On Day 2 our junior Individuals all fought well, but one rose above all of our expectations and placed in the Top 8 of European Juniors! The men's team were up next and despite a victory against the United Kingdom were unable to make it out of a very tough pool! To cap off a day of mixed emotions Aidan Dalton received a Fighting Spirit Award for his performance earlier in the day!

Day 3 saw the individual women's and men's championships where only one person can clinch victory and escape their pool!

Our debutant Jake Cunningham did just that! Scoring three points to take him into the first knockout round of the tournament! Despite a hard fight he couldn't progress further, but what a way to make your debut!

The 19th World Kendo Championship is over, but the memory will live on for a long time!!!

I am so proud of my team mates (and dojo mates on other teams) for the hard work they have put it over the past 11 months! 👏👏👏

It was a long week with difficult conditions, but Ireland comes away proud with a mix of wins, points, and experince gained by each member of the squad!

We will take a deserved break, to internalise what we have learned.

But training for next years EKC begins soon... 💪💪💪

Thank you so much to everyone that has supported me, taught me and trained with me over the past 16 years of kendo. I never thought I would make it to this point.
