Hi! I’m Dory, I’ve been a beauty editor for over 15 years and this is my new series called 40 Before 40.

I’m doing 40 things to make me healthier, happier, and more productive before I turn 40 in September.

Some ideas, ranging in tiny changes to bigger, more permanent shifts:
-Drinking more water throughout the day
-Coming up with a vitamin regimen
-Hitting fiber and protein goals
-Whitening my teeth
-Finding my ideal colors to wear in both clothing and makeup
-Dressing for my body type
-Prioritizing family and friends with quality time
-Decluttering material things I don’t need
-Finding my favorite NYC workout studios
-Getting Botox
-Getting hydrated and healthy skin
-Getting a breast lift and implants
-Using my network of experts to learn new skills

Class is in session 💄

I’ve worked in beauty for 20 years but after hormone changes, aging, and getting stuck in a rut of using the same products, I decided to switch things up and a take a professional makeup lesson at @blushington

My artist was so patient and kind, asking me how I liked to wear makeup and showing me the best tips and tricks and techniques.

I learned so much and it was also such a fun girls day out activity (I went with 2 friends and we each had our own private lesson).

Yea or Nay?

I’ve been renting clothing for over 10 years from Rent The Runway, Nuuly, Fashion Pass and others, and it’s still exciting (nerve-wracking?) trying on clothes for the first time when the order arrives.

I feel like my latest @fashionpass order was great! A nice mix of work looks, a dress for date night, and casual, everyday tops for school pickups.

It was actually front row, corner of the section, right above the pit. No one in front of us or blocking the view. Great seats!
