I am pleased to share this series of puzzle piece woodcuts made for El Anatsui @elanatsui_art As always with the support of @allan.edmunds and @brandywine.workshop Today they celebrate 50 years of supporting artists through the printmaking medium. Thank you and congratulations! It is a great privilege to be a small part of this legacy.

Today Brandywine will be open to visitors. You can see the current show as well as visit the printshop. Some of this work will be on display. I’ll be in the printshop from 12 to4pm.

Alexis Nutini (@dos_tres_press ) will lead a woodcut printmaking workshop, inviting guests to print directly onto their own clothing or textile using a custom woodblock. Ink will be provided; however, textiles will not be provided. Participants who would like to take part in the woodcut workshop must bring their own textile to print. Guests are encouraged to bring a favorite cotton item from home; a denim jacket, pair of jeans, scarf, tote bag, cotton pants, skirt, or another cotton textile, and personalize it with a custom woodblock print created at Brandywine Workshop and Archives.

Justine K. Ditto (@justine.ditto ) will lead a monotype printmaking workshop, guiding participants through the process of creating an original, one-of-a-kind work on paper. Paper and ink will be provided for all participants. Guests will have an opportunity to experiment with the spontaneity of monotype while creating their own print to take home.

No previous printmaking experience is necessary. Refreshments will be served.

A recent highlight of my collaborative printing practice was working on this richly layered woodcut with Didier William @dueyart and Brandywine Workshop and Archives @brandywine.workshop

The print consists of 9 laser cut blocks
with 15 printed hues. Three layers were executed with blend rolls which allows for printing more than one color at a time. One of the goals was to create a work on paper that had the texture and impasto quality of a heavily layered painting.

“Dife nan zo mwen” was created as part of the PrintLab residencies at Brandywine, supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. It’s now on display at PrintLab: Material Futures through October 26, 2026, at the Printed Image Gallery, 730 S Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. Open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11am–5pm.

Wondering about the cover art for this album? Here’s a sneak peek! The cover design is a section of a print by master printer Alexis Nutini of @dos_tres_press of the area in Veracruz where he grew up. The front is a portion of a 30x40” relief monoprint from 2013 inspired by the landscapes and colors of Veracruz, and the disc design is a detail of a beach landscape from the same region. Take a look and you’ll find abstracted, high-chroma details inspired by flora, textiles, ceramics and landscapes of Veracruz.

This animation was created from the woodcuts made for Jogging — Dusk & Dawn by Kakyoung Lee (@kakyounglee ). During her PrintLab Residency at Brandywine, in collaboration with Masterprinter Alexis Nutini (@dos_tres_press ) and with generous support from The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage (@pewcenterarts). The piece was born from watching people jogging in Prospect Park during the pandemic which she turned into 300 woodblocks and then the subsequent animation.

Join us for a soft opening of Print Lab: Material Futures, on June 18, from 2-8PM to view The 2025 PrintLab Residents’ work in our gallery! Also concurrently on view at PAFA at the Anne Bryan Gallery.
