The itch started when I went to Sonehri Beach this August

I was standing there, looking at that long mountain ridge stretching into the distance, and it suddenly hit me: if I follow this ridge it’ll take me straight to Bhit Khori. No path, no markers, just a path along the coastline. But it looked doable. I’ve hiked in the north, so what’s the worst that could happen in Karachi, right (??????)

So one day, I went for it. Bhit to Sonehri and back. The whole trek hugged the coast, walking on a mountain and the sea on our side. And while I was walking, one thought kept looping in my head “what would this route look like from the water?”

I don’t mean I thought about it casually. I mean it TOOK OVER MY BRAIN. For two weeks after that trek, the only thing I could properly think about was swimming that route. Actually swimming it!!!

And then we did!

I’m honestly proud of myself for deciding to go through with something that felt insane and magnetic at the same time. And I’m ESPECIALLY grateful to Khadija, who didn’t question how ridiculous it sounded to say “hey let’s just swim across the ocean to another beach” and just said yes let’s give it go! and we did it together!!

We came out of the water, sunburnt, salty, exhausted, and incredibly proud

A story of how an itch turned into an idea, and how that idea turned into a hike and that hike turned into a 4.3 km swim that I’ll never forget by @dostpul

It’s a good life. It’d be a better life if I exercised a little bit more but it’s still a good life nonetheless 🤷🏽 by @dostpul

POV: You show up at the beach at 6 am and find Dostain passed out in his sleeping bag. (Lambi dastan about the trip below)

But no seriously - this was such a wholesome camp night. We’d gone to watch the perseids meteor shower but with the clouds it didn’t look like we would get to see any.

We went and set up camp (my tent took 2 minutes - the rest… struggled with theirs haha) we then quickly built a trench with the MOST modern equipment available, so the tide wouldn’t take our stuff with it (the trench did its job so whoever has problems with my engineering qualifications/capabilities can suck my dick).

We then just lazed, sang, drank. It seemed like we were gonna go home in the morning without having seen any meteors but then the water randomly started sparking and bioluminescent plankton started doing this majestic display for us!! It kept getting brighter and brighter and at one point we were literally glowing cuz it was all on us!

We were super grateful for having witnessed this if not the meteors. We were pretty content but THEN THE SKY CLEARED UP AND WE SAW SOME OF THE METEOR SHOWER! The sea was glowing the sky was glowing it was truly incredible.

Then we ran out of alcohol and I passed out on the beach and the last picture is Maria bullying me into waking up 😡

But honestly whaaat a day. Thank you God. This was truly very nice and I’m very grateful 🥹 by @dostpul

Reel editing scares me, so I’m doing exposure therapy, bad edits until they’re not bad anymore. Y’all are along for the ride and will suffer my reels whether you like it or not

If you watched till the end you’re a cuto. Thanks for (digitally) joining our bonding sesh 🤍 by @dostpul

Sunset, winter sea, a paddle board, and my cuto friends with me. So much in life to be grateful for by @dostpul

Peoples boat service R15: Sonehri beach to Mubarak beach by @dostpul

The song captures the mood of the weekend’s trip beautifully
Sand, moonlight, glowing water, and people who were actually present 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽
Nobody checked their phone. We could all use more nights like this and perhaps learn to love again 🩵

Brace yourselves for daily beach posts (as if I ever post content outside the beach), because it’s genuinely all I can think about. I wake up thinking about the ocean, I fall asleep thinking about the ocean. The only time I’m not thinking about it is when I’m in it. (Lie. Even then I’m thinking about how soon I can get back in)

The ocean currently occupies 90% of my brain. Expect cheesy ocean songs from now till March, and after that, expect the same posts, just more nostalgic cuz beach season will have ended by @dostpul

Here’s hoping paddle boarding will get rid of my beer belly (it likely won’t but one can hope) by @dostpul
