On July 10 I am releasing my third studio album with @weareplatoon. It’s a Schubertiade album called “Solitude with Schubert”featuring Schubert solo piano works (d. 915 Allegretto in c minor, d. 958 Sonata, d. 817 Hungarian Melody) as well as selected Lieder with the wonderful @dottelettsbean (as pictured in the third cartoon).The first single, the Hungarian Melody d. 817, is out now and available to stream. A new release is out today!! @ianwilson.composer’s beautiful and haunting long form work ‘Voces amissae’ (Lost voices) — recorded live with @ensemble_musikfabrik and released on @farpointrecordings, with production by @stalling.david. Available to stream freely via @bandcamp (link in my stories as of now!) and lovely physical copies available via Farpoint.LOST VOICES (“Voces amissae”) is a single, 50-minute work for mezzo-soprano, cello, three violas, and two percussionists, exploring ways in which voices can be lost—through social marginalization, political oppression, personal circumstance or medical conditions. At its heart lies an investigation into the minutiae of sound, continuing Ian Wilson’s long-standing interest in delicate, nuanced musical textures and the mechanics of producing pianissimo.Originally conceived for Dutch soprano @norafischervocals , the project gained a poignant resonance because Fischer herself was at that point experiencing difficulties with her own voice. This inspired a broader inquiry into silenced voices - together, Wilson and Fischer conducted interviews with people whose voices had been affected in various ways—from medical cases including stroke and motor neurone disease, to a singer whose career was ended by vocal injury, and individuals whose voices had been suppressed socially or politically. These interviews form the textual backbone of the piece.Voces amissae is a work haunted by loss yet underpinned by resilience, a luminous testament to voices that endure even when silenced. by @dottelettsbean

I’m going to start doing a little series on people who played on the record. :) The first guest I want to introduce on ‘Eternal Spring’ is the extraordinary Lotte Betts-Dean.Lotte is an Australian mezzo-soprano and one of the most adventurous singers ive worked with. Her work moves freely between contemporary classical music, opera, art song, early music and experimental electronics. She has premiered countless new works and collaborated with artists and ensembles including the London Sinfonietta, Manchester Collective and Australian Chamber Orchestra, as well as releasing a growing catalogue of beautiful and brilliantly unusual recordings.I first met Lotte during a residency with Luke Abbott at Britten Pears Arts in Snape Maltings, Suffolk. We spent a few days making music together, which eventually became the album ‘Endless Joy’, released through @salmonuniverse last year.Lotte seems to be constantly performing and creating new work, I was blown away by her solo show, ‘Voice Electric’. The programme explores the amplified human voice through music ranging from Scelsi and Feldman to contemporary electronics and a piece by buddy and long term collaborator Luke Abbott. It’s virtuosic and astonishing, but also strangely physical. For ‘Eternal Spring’, we recorded a huge amount of material inside St Thomas’s Church in North London. The vocal part that appears on the finished track originally belonged to a different piece. I later pulled it apart, rearranged it and embedded Lotte’s voice into the music as one of its main melodic lines.Her voice has so much body, power and colour. Hearing it resonate through a large church, it felt as though this was exactly what the building had been made for.A massive thank you to Lotte for bringing something so beautiful and distinctive to this track.@dottelettsbean by @dottelettsbean

@eyepitydafu’s third album for @weareplatoon, ‘Solitude with Schubert’, was just released yesterday.It’s a carefully curated and very personal recording borne out of grief, exploring how art — in this case, the piano works and songs of Schubert — can help us navigate loss.I’m very proud and honoured to be featured on about half of the disc, singing Schubert’s wonderful and rarely heard early cycle ‘Einsamkeit’ D620 as well as our two favourite songs from his final collection, ‘Schwanengesang’. It is also particularly special to be the very first female singer to record Einsamkeit (I’m pretty sure…!! Correct us if we’re wrong but we think it may well be the first!)Here are some stills from the beautiful (and @royalphilsoc award-nominated!) documentary @haymatildaphoto made about the project, shot during our recording sessions at @wellscathedralschool. The delightful cover, with art by George himself, is pinned on my grid :) Massive thanks to @mswan_audio, @oscartorrestorres and everyone at Platoon, I can’t believe I got to record Schubert with such a dream team. by @dottelettsbean

One month ago we had a superbly fun time at @kingsplacelondon with a programme of Steve Martland, Frederic Rzewski and @lisastreichmusic. Sean-Nós in a new styleSunday 26th July 2026 12 noonIrish composer and pianist Seán Morgan-Rooney has reimagined the sean-nós songs of his childhood. Drawing both from his summers competing at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann as a boy and his training as a classical pianist, Seán has arranged 10 sean-nós songs for voice and piano in the classical art song style. Seán’s hope is to bring the Irish language and song tradition to a wider international stage, and to encourage classical singers both at home in Ireland and abroad to explore this vast and precious song canon. Together with renowned mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean, Seán will release an album of the complete songs in 2027 under the Delphian label. by @dottelettsbean
