For fans of All About Eve: The Curran Theatre on Geary Street in San Francisco, with the stage door and front entrance seen in the movie (and where Miss Caswell, so memorably played by Marilyn Monroe, had her audition and felt "like I swam the English Channel." taken in Curran by @doubleahoff

The other day, I stopped by the River City Reading Room in downtown Peoria, Illinois. The book shop opened at the start of Summer and is off to a great start. Stop by to check out the selection on your way to The Peoria Riverfront Museum, or any of the numerous restaurants and bars lining the riverfront. Peoria once had a thriving downtown, and as with many cities, the population moved to the other side of town. But those people are missing out on some unique, hidden gems. They carry a number of locals' books, including my own. Check the place out and support local businesses! by @doubleahoff

The other day, I paid a visit to Lit On Fire Books on Main Street in Peoria, Illinois, to welcome the new owner, Jennifer Flaig (who took up the mantle from previous owner and founder, Jessica Stephenson). Bookstores are a valuable commodity in this day and age, and Lit On Fire has its adjoining My Writing Shed, a haven for authors in need of a peaceful workspace. Its proximity to the Bradley University Campus makes it a helpful space for students and locals alike! Check out this space with its ongoing series of events!

I highly recommend Il Girasole Trattoria in the Logan's Square neighborhood of Chicago. The Fettucine al Tartufo, the tiramisu (my friend Susan had the exquisite creme brulee), and the complimentary limoncello were all fantastic. Quality food made from quality ingredients, and reasonably priced all things considered. Buono appetito! taken in IL Girasole Trattoria by @doubleahoff

Available at the Unabridged Bookstore in Chicago: signed copies of "With Love, Mommie Dearest." Also spotted on the shelves: the paperback edition of Bruce Vilanch’s hilarious "It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time," detailing his connection to some of the most memorable TV and Film campfests of all time.
Chicago Review Press published both of our books, Bruce wrote the introduction to mine, and we even shared the same editor, Jerome Pohlen! taken in Unabridged Bookstore by @doubleahoff

Most book readers (and, for that matter, authors) never get to see the inside of a publishing warehouse, but while picking up a carton of copies of my book "With Love, Mommie Dearest" I got to see where stacks are kept, ready to be ordered and shipped off to stores (or libraries or schools). My publisher is Chicago Review Press, part of IPG (Independent Publishers Group).

Sunset in New Mexico II: Impossible, of course, to take quality pictures from a moving train with a cell phone instead of quality camera. However, I had never before seen clouds outlined like this by the setting sun. Truly spectacular. by @doubleahoff
