Pretty great to see a review of Doug Gillard's "Parallel Stride" over the weekend by @thatericalper! "The longtime Guided by Voices and Nada Surf guitarist has spent decades building one of indie rock's more remarkable resumes, yet 'Parallel Stride' works best when heard on its own terms: sharp songs, memorable hooks and guitar playing that serves the tune instead of showing off around it" Pick up your copy of this soon-to-be power pop classic today, and catch Doug at Dromfest (if you've got tickets)! #indierock #powerpop #douggillard by @douggillard

"Gillard has formed a perfect gem, simply potted and executed, dreamily embedded in an exquisitely melodic, rock ‘n roll minor miracle. Just like that, an earworm is born. He’s been breeding colonies of them for years." -- Peter Lindblad

Our good pal @jimjbeat, godfather of NJ punk and founder of Jersey Beat, one of the longest-running punk zines on the planet, weighs in on Doug Gillard's "Parallel Stride" at @offshelfdotnet stating that it "serves as a reminder of something longtime listeners already suspected: Gillard is more than just a sideman, and fully capable of carving out his own niche in the indie landscape. That is, when he can find the time." Pick up your copy of "Parallel Stride" before the first pressing runs out - on our website, or at one of the fine record stores linked in our bio. #indierock #guidedbyvoices #RollingStoneTop250Guitarists #powerpop by @douggillard

“I have to remind myself it’s okay to play the tops of chords.”

@douggillard has got a great work ethic. It’s helped him tackle dozens upon dozens of new @guidedbyvoicesofficial songs most years, as well as recreating the Beatles’ enormous Cavern-days setlists with @bambikinoofficial . Still, the prolific guitarist and songwriter had to consciously make a “mad dash” to finish the group of songs on Parallel Stride, his first solo album since 2014.

Doug hits on: stringing together speaker-jumping, chorus-warbling solos with one of his Blue-plated Boss pedals; the aged Goldtop he played at Tom Beaujour’s Hoboken studio; whether or not the main earworm in power-pop “New Vista” was a subconscious salute to Rush; songs on an imagined isolation; and his penchant for low-string drone notes.

Interview in the latest @guitarworldmagazine , on stands now and online soon.

Some great words from @brooklynvegan about "Parallel Stride" over the last couple of days - "Gillard may be best known as a sideman, but 'Parallel Stride' makes a strong case that he's a star in his own right." #DougGillard #Powerpop #indierock #BrooklynVegan by @douggillard
