Donor Outreach for Veterans (DOVE)
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Two years ago, the @tamronhallshow profiled DOVE Team 19, Victor and Kim. Victor's children got to meet Kim, their donor hero, for the first time and thank her for saving their dad and their family. Many of #tamfam viewers contacted DOVE to learn if they could also help a veteran in need.

Sheila Devaney, is one of one of those viewers. Please click the link in our bio to watch as Sheila meets Ron, her recipient, and a Navy Veteran, for the first time.

Grateful to @sheiladevaney71 and ron for sharing their stories and to raise awareness about #organdonation.

We were so glad Tamron invited family, friends, DOVE teams, and the @rwjbarnabas_health transplant team
to be a part of this special taping.

Tamron says once in the #tamfam always in the #tamfam. Partnering in powerful ways to save lives!

Danny Murray, is a #navyveteran from North Carolina donated his kidney 3 weeks ago. Loren Merritt, is an #armyveteran who received a kidney transplant last December. Both were interviewed because of their @foxnews connection: Loren's kidney donor and Danny both contacted DOVE after seeing the Fox News Memorial Day segment last year. In fact, over the past three years, over 600 Fox News viewers have submitted living donor inquiries to @dovetransplant. 18 have donated a kidney to a Veteran in need.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of so many who have stepped up to help Veterans by considering #kidneydonation or offering to help in some way.

Thank you @foxnews for continuing to share updates on DOVE.

Thank you Danny and Loren for sharing your story and giving hope to the many who are still waiting for their #giftoflife.

Many of DOVE's living kidney donors and recipients have not yet met. Team #68 Recipient, Michael, knew his donor was willing to meet but for a while he didn't know how to thank her and he felt overwhelmed. But at his one year anniversary, he was ready.
Together, with the DOVE team, he surprised Diana by joining our annual follow up video call.

There were tears of joy and some good laughs. Diana was happy to learn where her kidneys new home was. Michael said: "This experience made me really see and know all the good in the world."
Wishing Diana and Michael the very best and thanks for letting DOVE come along for this special meeting.
We are grateful to all organ donors for their kindness and generosity and grateful to the Veterans who have trusted us to support them thru this journey.

Alabama native Ronnie Kirk joined the US Army when he was 17 years old. He retired after 22 years of military service.

Ronnie is one of the over 360 Veterans who have enlisted DOVE to assist in their search for a lifesaving living kidney donor. Most Veterans have reached out to us after exhausting all of their options within their immediate families.

Asking someone to donate an organ is the most difficult ask for anyone. But especially for Veterans like Ronnie, who are more accustomed to serving others.

Please share Ronnie's story throughout your communities. We know someone is out there who will feel this is their calling to reach out and learn if they can be his hero.

We welcome anyone to reach out and learn about kidney donation. 551-449-8319 or Info@dovetransplant.org OR click the links in Ronnie's profile. by @dovetransplant

Catching up on a few updates in one post:

Congrats and thank you to Lindsay and Anthony Gutierrez for completing the Army 10 miler yesterday! Their smiles and positivity brought light and energy to the cold and rainy day. Thank you for always showing up for DOVE and helping to raise awareness about our mission and the importance of organ donation.

DOVE facilitates mentor meetings for donors and recipients. Last week Team #46 mentored Team #97.

And we are happy to share Team 94 is recovering well despite a few week delay.

We are grateful for our community to all organ donors, caregivers, kidney warriors and transplant professionals for enabling the Gift of Life through organ donation and transplantation.

DOVE Team 95 (Part 1 - Voucher Donor)
Todays living kidney donor, Steve, has been serving military members for years - literally --- He is the chef at a naval office in Maryland!

When he learned he could directly impact the quality of a veteran’s life through kidney donation, (thank you @foxnews ) he was “ALL IN”.

Steve chose to help a veteran who was still parenting young children. This was personal as his children lost their mom at a young age.
Steve hopes to spare another family that heartache. Kidney donation heals the whole family.
We are sending our prayers for a speedy recovery and we are so grateful to Steve and all lifesaving organ donors.

If you would like to learn about kidney donation please reach out to us and schedule an informational call. #551 -233- 1611 or Info@dovetransplant.org by @dovetransplant

Thank you to Hayley Slaughter and @idahonews6 for raising awareness about lifesaving #livingkidneydonation ! We have received several inquiries as a result of this piece. There are so many in our community who would consider living organ donation They just don't know who needs help or where to begin. DOVE has focused our efforts on helping US Veterans who are searching for living donors. We have over 350 Veterans registered with us waiting to be matched across the country.

Kidney donation is safe for those who are medically cleared.

The comprehensive medical testing is done confidentially and at no cost to the potential donor.

At any point along the way - if a donor changes their mind about donation they are fully supported in their decision by the teams involved and assured complete confidentiality.

DOVE helps support any donor along the way and provide case management support to ensure they do not incur out of pocket expenses.

This may be your sign - to start learning about donation today. Please reach out to schedule a call with a member of our team!

Together we can #endthewaitforall

The first few deliveries of our new and improved custom outreach kits have made their way to a Veterans.

Here is Army Veteran, Leslie, on her way to Boston hoping her car magnet will inspire someone to learn about living kidney donation.

We received this email from Leslie:
"...A woman at the hospital took a picture of the bar code...I think my sisters are interested in sharing. I actually feel a little more hope and I have been feeling very down."

We want Leslie and our Veterans to feel lifted and lighter knowing they have DOVE in their corner. While we can't guarantee they receive a living kidney donor - we want them to feel our love and support and the appreciation for their service to our country.
Please share Leslie's link or reach out if you would like to display a DOVE decal on your car. We would be glad to send to you.

Thanks to a generous grant (to be announced next month) we are able to provide a lot more support to each registered Veteran. This support will include an enhanced "Outreach Kit" as well as 1:1 PR support and guidance from our team. We also will have resources to amplify DOVE's message on a larger scale! We know the more the public learns about DOVE and living organ donation - the more lives will be saved. We will discuss at our monthly meeting tomorrow night and we will post an order form on our Store site soon. Stay tuned! by @dovetransplant

Pictured here is Tom M. a USARMY Veteran who lives in Hawaii who recently received a deceased donor kidney transplant at Walter Reed Medical Center. In order for Tom to accept this kidney offer, he needed to travel and stay near the medical center for several months. He has been residing in a beautiful shared home, free of charge, right on base because of the Fisher House Foundation. There are Fisher Homes across the country providing free long term housing to wounded servicemen and women and Veterans.

Lindsay G is a USAF Veteran as well as one of our case managers. She is also a dual organ donor. Since she lives nearby, she visited Tom to offer a friendly smile and support.

Tom is feeling great post transplant. He is now committed to work with Lindsay on raising awareness about DOVE and helping his fellow Veterans get their lifesaving transplants as well.

Tom will be our speaker at the next "Check In " Meeting for our DOVE community. We welcome you to join this Thursday at 7 pm EST. Stay tuned for links or reach out to info@dovetransplant.org

DOVE is a growing family. We have resources and support across the country. Even those who we did not help get their transplant (like Tom) felt grateful we were there for them and now they are staying engaged to be present for others.

No one should feel alone as they cope with end stage organ disease and search for their lifesaving organ donor.
We are grateful to Tom, Lindsay and our community.

We thank Tom's organ donor and family and they are in our prayers. by @dovetransplant

#neverforget

25 years ago was a day of immeasurable loss. A day that changed and shaped America. We pray for those whose lives were lost and grieve with their loved ones today.

For over 250,000 individuals, 9/11 was a call to action and there emerged a new generation of military service prepared to defend our country against evil - no matter the risk.

Many of DOVE's Veterans were a part of this generation. We hope they feel our gratitude and love. We are honored to give back - in their time of need.

We grieve, we salute, and we will never forget. by @dovetransplant
