Donor Outreach for Veterans (DOVE)
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This weekend at the Transplant Games of America in Denver reminded me that we all have a story to tell. I met transplant recipients who fought for a second chance at life, living donors who changed someone’s future, and donor families whose loved ones’ legacies continue to live on through others. One of the most humbling moments was standing alongside 966 transplant recipients and living donors as part of a Guinness World Records gathering. Looking around that room, I didn’t see numbers. I saw hope, resilience, gratitude, and second chances. I may have left Denver with a gold medal, but what I’ll remember most are the stories. Because behind every transplant is a journey. Behind every donor is a hero. And behind every second chance is a story worth telling. #TransplantGamesOfAmerica #DonateLife #SecondChanceAtLife #TransplantStrong #Gratitude Hope

👑Thank you, @mrs.deeannakrier! Some titles come and go, but the friendships built along the way are what truly last. I’m so grateful for DeeAnna, who reigned alongside me as @msachievementworld while I served as Ms. Achievement - USA. Her faith, kindness, and generosity inspire everyone around her, and she has a beautiful way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Thank you, DeeAnna, for your support, your friendship, and the example you set every day. 🌹Thank you, @jenniferbrofer! Some friendships are proof that stories matter. 💚 I met Jenn through @pinupsforvets, and what started as a connection through veteran service grew into a friendship built on advocacy, living donation, and a shared commitment to helping others. Today, Pin-Ups For Vets has three living kidney donors and ambassadors, and that happened because @ginaeliseofficial created a community where people could connect, share their stories, and inspire action. Seeing Jenn become a donor reminds me that we never know who is listening when we share our experiences. Thank you, Jenn, for your friendship, your service as a Marine Corps veteran, and your support of my journey to the Transplant Games of America. 🇺🇸You can support the mission too: https://dovetransplant.app.neoncrm.com/fundraiser/2026usaftt #PinUpsForVets #LivingKidneyDonor #womenveterans #TransplantGamesOfAmerica #donatelife @realzakbagans @thehauntedmuseum @ghostadventures @dovetransplant @transplantlifefoundation 📸 @cheeky_snapsy & @hollywood_cars_museum ⚾️ @somdbluecrabs

🫡Thank you, Larry! I’m so grateful for supporters like Larry, who I’ve never met but who chose to support me and the U.S. Armed Forces Transplant Team. 💚 It means so much when people see the value of what we’re doing and step up to help, especially those who are strangers. As an Air Force veteran, I also deeply appreciate his support of the military community. Every act of kindness like this brings us closer to the Transplant Games of America, and I’m truly thankful for it! Less than one week until we’re officially in Denver! 🇺🇸Help support the mission to the games: https://dovetransplant.app.neoncrm.com/fundraiser/2026usaftt #USArmedForcesTransplantTeam #TransplantGamesOfAmerica #VeteranSupport #LivingDonor #veteran @dovetransplant @transplantlifefoundation @pinupsforvets

🇺🇸 HELP US MAKE HISTORY…1 WEEK LEFT🇺🇸 This team means so much to me personally. ❤️🤍💙 As a veteran and living organ donor, helping build the first-ever U.S Armed Forces Transplant Team for the 2026 Transplant Games of America has been incredibly meaningful to me. This team represents resilience, sacrifice, healing, and second chances at life. ✈️Next week we travel to Denver to compete as the FIRST military team EVER in the 35-year history of the Transplant Games of America. Many of our team members have overcome deployments, serious illnesses, organ failure, transplantation, and long recoveries, and now they have the opportunity to stand together and represent both the military and the lifesaving power of organ donation on a national stage. 🚨We have 1 week left to reach our team fundraising goal!!! We are currently seeking: ✔️ Corporate sponsors ✔️ Community partners ✔️ Small business sponsors ✔️ Individual supporters Your support helps cover: ✈️ Travel 🏨 Lodging 🎽 Competition expenses ❤️ Organ donation awareness efforts If you or your company would like to support this historic team, you can donate at https://dovetransplant.app.neoncrm.com/campaigns/us-armed-forces-transplant-team-fundraiser?_cf=1 and the link is posted in my bio. This is a big deal for burn pit–exposed service members, veterans, and surviving families. In August 2025, the Army Human Resources Command and the United States Army Physical Disability Agency published guidance clarifying that… “injuries caused by fumes from open-air burn pits in designated combat zones may be coded as “combat-related” because burn pits can be considered an “instrumentality of war.” 🔹That language matters. For years, many service members were told their toxic exposure–related illnesses were “service-connected,” but not necessarily “combat-related.” Those are not the same thing. A combat-related designation may affect how a disability is coded during the Army Disability Evaluation System process and may impact eligibility for certain compensation, tax treatment, retirement-related benefits, and review of prior determinations. For medically retired veterans, it may also matter for Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC), depending on the facts of the case, VA rating, retirement status, and service branch review. This could be relevant for conditions tied to burn pit fumes and deployment-related airborne hazards, especially among those who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Kuwait, Qatar, Djibouti, and other designated combat or hazardous duty areas. This DOES NOT mean every #BurnPit claim is automatically approved. It does not replace a VA claim, medical evidence, a nexus opinion, or survivor benefit application. But it does create an important recognition: toxic exposure from burn pits was not just an environmental inconvenience, it was part of the battlefield.

🙌🏼Thank you, Hilda! So grateful for Hilda, someone I’ve heard the sweetest and kindest stories about from my mother in law, Belinda. 💛 Her warmth and generosity clearly made a lasting impact during Belinda’s teaching years, and now she’s extended that same kindness to me. Her support truly means the world as I prepare to represent the U.S. Armed Forces Transplant Team at the @transplant_games. People like Hilda remind me how much good there still is in this world. DOVE: Changing How Veterans Find Kidney Donors Listen here: https://donordiaries.com/dove-changing-how-veterans-find-kidney-donors  Being told you need a kidney transplant is overwhelming. Being told you need to go find your own living donor while managing dialysis can feel impossible. For many veterans, that is exactly how the system works today. In this episode, we sit down with Sharyn Kreitzer, a living kidney donor and longtime transplant professional with nearly three decades of experience in end stage organ disease. Sharyn began her career as a dialysis social worker and went on to work across transplant social work, outreach, development, and administration in both private sector programs and the VA system. In 2015, she launched the first VA transplant program on the East Coast at the Bronx VA. It was there that she saw a gap that could not be ignored, and in 2020 she founded DOVE (Donor Outreach for Veterans) to bring a different kind of support to veterans navigating the transplant process. We talk about the real barriers veterans face when it comes to living donation. Access to transplant centers is limited. Travel can be a major burden for both recipients and donors. Criteria for donor approval can vary widely from one center to another, leaving willing donors confused and discouraged. Sharyn shares how DOVE steps in once a veteran is evaluated and listed, helping them build a clear, shareable profile that turns a vague need into something people can understand and act on. A big part of this conversation is about how we engage potential donors. Instead of pushing people straight into long and invasive medical forms, DOVE starts with education and conversation. It is a simple shift, but one that keeps more people engaged and open to learning. We also talk about the importance of second opinions, and how a “no” from one center does not always mean the end of the road. #GiveToHelpVetsLive #OrganDonationSavesLives #TogetherWeCan #LivingKidneyDonor #DOVE
