I see this in my clinic more than I should. And it is almost always preventable. 🦷
Implants are narrower than natural tooth roots. This creates a wider gap where food and bacteria get trapped easily, and a regular toothbrush simply cannot reach it.
When infection develops around an implant it is called peri-implantitis. And research shows that bone loss around implants can progress significantly faster than around natural teeth.
The scary part? Most people do not even know it is happening until it is already serious.
The good news? It is almost entirely preventable.

I don’t treat breast cancer. But as a dentist, I’m part of the team that helps patients get through it — gum bleeding from chemo, dry mouth from radiation, and sometimes, catching oral cancer early at a routine checkup.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, FIGS is donating again to Fuck Cancer. @letsfcancer

10月はピンクリボン月間。今年もFIGSは「FUCK CANCER」に寄付をします。

早期発見の大切さを、改めてお伝えしたいです。乳がんは早期に発見して治療すれば、95%以上が治癒すると言われています。だからこそ、定期的な検診は「おすすめ」ではなく、命を守る行動です。

わたし自身は、マンモグラフィと超音波を1年ごとに交互に受けています。健康診断のオプションにあることが多いので、ぜひ確認してみてください。加入している健康保険組合にもよりますが、わたしは毎年無料で受けられています。

自治体の検診でも、40歳以上の女性を対象に2年に1回、無料または低価格で受けられる制度があります。対象の方には無料クーポンが届くこともあるので、お住まいの自治体の制度もチェックしてみてください。

早期発見が命を守ります。検診の予約、先延ばしにしないでくださいね。
