I came to the U.S. first on a student visa, then an H-1B visa. I fought to stay and keep working through the pandemic when my green card application got denied — showing up when it mattered most.
Now a proposed $103,265 fee threatens to price immigrant physicians like me out entirely. Many training hospitals already operate on thin margins; faced with a six-figure fee per doctor, many will simply stop sponsoring immigrant physicians rather than absorb the cost.
That’s not a hypothetical — it’s a hiring decision finance teams will make. And it comes as the U.S. faces a projected shortage of up to 86,000 doctors by 2036, a gap international medical graduates have long helped close. This fee doesn’t just affect “foreign workers” — it decides whether the next doctor who could fill that gap ever gets hired at all.

This one is a question I get all the time especially for patients whose diagnoses are different from a “regular cleaning”. 🧼 🩸🪥✨

This is such a broad and generalized breakdown of the main 4 that we do at a general dentist office. Also I want to take a moment to shout out to all the dental hygiene professionals out there WHO ARE LITERAL ANGELS and so amazing at their jobs. Without you, I would CRUMBLE for real for real. 🙏🏼

In the next video, I’ll go more in depth the clinical differences between a Prophylaxis (Prophy) and a Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) diagnosis and what that means going forward if you DO have an SRP!

FIGS Retreat Day 2 was even better than Day 1! There was so much fun and new activities (I will not be competing at any pickleball tournaments in the near or distant future). I miss everyone so much. Let’s run it back soon @wearfigs

This is one of those moments/ experiences in life where your whole mindset and DNA shifts.

A focus on self was the goal and quickly turned into a focus on us, the collective medical profession. Uncovering what you feel about your profession and life is truly not a singular experience, many are having it and we can now share and support one another through it.

I didn’t realize it but this was so needed at this juncture of my career/ life. I deepened past connections and made so many new.

To the team @wearfigs , the support you provide and encourage throughout the ambassadors to create a family is truly top tier. You are changing so many lives, thank you.🙏🏽

Back home from the FIGS retreat and my heart is so full🥹💙

I became a FIGS Ambassador back in 2018 as a first year dental student. Looking back now as a pediatric dentist, it’s honestly pretty surreal to see how much has changed. If you had told that version of me where this journey would take me, I never would’ve believed you.

Over the years, FIGS has been there through so many chapters of my life and career. I’ve met the most incredible people, built friendships that go so much deeper than social media, and found a community of healthcare professionals who inspire me every single day. Every retreat leaves me feeling recharged, motivated, and so grateful to be surrounded by people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.

Thank you FIGS, for believing in me all these years and for continuing to bring healthcare professionals together. Thank you for creating a space where we can reconnect, learn from one another, and celebrate the work we do. I don’t take any of it for granted, and I feel so lucky to be part of this community.
