FULL CIRCLE MOMENT ALERT ‼️

Many people don’t know this, but I didn’t grow up with access to dental care.
My first dental visit wasn’t until high school — at a free clinic — where I waited over 6 hours just to be seen.

Years later, my next visit was at a dental school during an emergency.

Today, standing on the other side as a healthcare professional, being able to give back to my community brought tears to my eyes. Moments like this remind me why I chose this path.

Representation matters. Access matters. And purpose hits different when you’ve lived both sides of the story.

What once felt out of reach is now part of my purpose.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. It was truly an honor to serve. 💛 taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @dr.purks

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” - Frederick Douglass

Excited to share that I’ve gained my IV conscious sedation permit. For those that know me personally, you know this was a goal before I even started dental school. A moment I prayed for, earned through discipline, honoring the ancestors who made the path possible—even when it wasn’t easy. Grateful beyond words🖤

Happy Black history month, cheers to continuing the legacy 🖤✊🏽 by @dr.purks
