Excited to share my conversation on the Between the Doctors Podcast with Dr. Ajay Bhatnagar. 🎙️

We talked about a question that has shaped so much of how I approach psychiatry:

What if mental health care felt less like a clinical appointment, and more like a personalized partnership?

For me, modern psychiatric care has never been about a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s about understanding the whole person, their goals, lifestyle, relationships, ambitions, and the life they’re actually trying to build.

In this episode, we dive into my approach to creating more personalized, relationship-driven mental health care and why I believe evidence-based medicine and genuine human connection should exist in the same room.

Because mental wellness isn’t just about treating symptoms. It’s about helping people create lives they feel well enough to fully experience.

Thank you to Between the Doctors and Dr. Bhatnagar for having me and creating space for this conversation. 🤍

Full circle moment 🤍

I got featured in EDM.com… one of my favorite publications in the EDM space.

And the topic?
Why no one is actually dancing anymore.

Which feels very on brand for me because…

This is deeper than music.

People aren’t just “not dancing”
They’re watching
Recording
Thinking about how they look

Instead of actually feeling.

And from a psychiatry + neuroscience lens…
That matters.

Because dancing isn’t just fun
It’s regulation
It’s release
It’s connection

It’s one of the few places people used to let their guard down without needing words.

So being part of this conversation means a lot 🖤

Big thank you to Jason Heffler for including me in this piece, these are the conversations that need to be had.

This is exactly why I create experiences around music + the nervous system.

We’re not just here to listen.
We’re here to feel.

If your life had a soundtrack like the main character in a movie, what songs would be playing in the background? 🎧

Music has always been a tool. And you don’t have to be Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, or a world-recognized artist to understand its power.

We all use music.

It's the song you play before a big meeting, the playlist that gets you through a workout, the one you put on when you need to cry, or the song that instantly takes you back to a specific version of yourself.

The difference is learning to use it intentionally. by @dr.vie

And a loooooong jacket. 🧥🎶

This was one of my favorite songs back in the day, and this remix is giving me LIFE.

You guys already know how much I love music, but I’m also someone who could spend hours watching music videos. So getting to create my own genuinely brings out my inner teenager who probably dreamed of doing exactly this.

And it got me thinking… when did life get so serious that we stopped doing things simply because they bring us joy? Not because they’re productive, because they make sense, or because they’re part of some bigger plan.

Just because they’re FUN.

Consider this your reminder to do more of the things that make you feel like you again. 🤍 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @dr.vie

Music might be one of the most underrated tools we have for supporting our mood.

When you listen to music you love, your brain engages reward and emotion-processing systems. Dopamine pathways can become activated, your autonomic nervous system can shift, and music may help regulate the body’s stress response. Research has also found that music interventions can reduce perceived stress and, in some studies, influence biological stress markers like cortisol.

There’s also growing evidence that music therapy can help reduce depressive symptoms, although the quality of the research varies and it should not be treated as a replacement for professional mental health care.

And this is exactly why I’m so interested in what happens when psychiatry, neuroscience, music, and culture meet. Music doesn’t just sound good. Your brain and body are responding to it.

So yes, turn the music up. Dance. Sing. Build the playlist that changes your state.

Just remember: music can be a powerful tool in your mental wellness toolkit, but this is not a prescription, diagnosis, or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for individualized mental health treatment.

What’s one song that can change your mood almost instantly? 🎶 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @dr.vie

When your worlds collide in the best way. 🎧✨

DJing + fashion are two of the things I love most, so getting to step behind the decks at alice + olivia Scottsdale felt like such a full-circle moment.

It’s no secret that a very healthy portion of my closet is alice + olivia 😂 so getting to DJ in store as Dr. Vie™ was genuinely a dream.

Huge shoutout to Jennifer Kaplan for bringing such a beautiful event together and creating a night filled with fashion, music, connection, champagne + the best energy.

More nights like this, please. 🖤

Fashion + Music + Community.
Exactly where I want to be.

This is also the kind of work I want to do more of.

Music can completely shift the energy of a room. It can make an event feel more immersive, memorable and connected, whether that’s a brand activation, corporate gathering, wellness experience, private event or something entirely custom.

If you’re planning an event and want to bring in Dr. Vie™ to curate the sound, energy and overall experience, let’s talk.

I’d love to explore what that could look like for your brand, company or community. 🎧

I’m very particular about what I listen to when I need to focus. 😂

Sometimes I want lo-fi. Sometimes classical. Sometimes I need EDM with no lyrics because silence is somehow more distracting.

As a psychiatrist and DJ, I’m constantly interested in how sound changes the way we experience focus, energy, mood, and even the pace of our thoughts.

So I put together some of my favorite playlists for different kinds of work days, whether you need to lock in, find a flow state, or just make answering emails feel slightly less painful. 🎧

And yes, I have my own playlists in there too.

Save this for your next work session, send it to your friend who can’t function without headphones, and find all of my playlists through the link in my bio.
