@shirleyballas reaction to her own before & after says it all… 👀

Looking back at her NeoGen journey and even she can’t quite believe the difference.

A more defined jawline. Fine lines visibly softened. A clearer, more even skin tone with those sun spots and marks dramatically reduced. And an overall fresher, brighter complexion.

The photos really do speak for themselves.

After her latest treatment with @dr_maude at @ouronyx , Shirley is seeing just how far her NeoGen journey has come and why she keeps coming back to NeoGen.

No fillers.
No surgery.
Just the power of NeoGen.

This is skin regeneration you can actually see.

The best aesthetic results don’t come from treating one issue in isolation — they come from understanding the face as a whole.

@dr_maude from @ouronyx makes the point that treating just the upper face with Botox while ignoring everything below it creates an imbalance — and adding volume to the cheeks without considering how that change affects every other proportion on the face is exactly how you end up with results that look off without being able to explain why.

She explains that true facial harmony comes from treating the skin, the muscles and the structure in layers — and thinking not just about what looks good today but what makes sense for that face in five, ten and twenty years time. It’s the difference between a quick fix and a long term plan.

Biostimulators are having a real moment right now — but are they worth the hype?

@dr_maude from @ouronyx breaks it down beautifully.

Unlike fillers which add volume from the outside, biostimulators work by triggering your own body’s regenerative processes — encouraging collagen, elastin and new tissue to form naturally over time. But not all biostimulators do the same thing, and choosing the wrong one for the wrong reason is one of the most common mistakes in aesthetics right now.

As Dr Maude explains, the treatment has to match the outcome you’re actually looking for.

Are fillers still a good idea? 💉

Leading aesthetic doctor @dr_maude from @ouronyx says yes — but only when the right type is used in the right place.

Not all fillers are the same — they come in very different densities and each one behaves completely differently in the face.

Put a thick filler in the lips and it won’t move naturally. Put a light filler where you need bone support and it disappears immediately.

The migration, the pillow face, the results that don’t look right — more often than not it comes down to that one decision.

Would you still consider trying filler?

Comment SKIN and I’ll send you links to this week’s episode 💛

What are the aesthetic treatments that actually make a difference as we age?

@dr_maude from @ouronyx joins me on The Health Review to cut through the noise of the aesthetic industry.

What makes Ouronyx different from almost every other clinic is that before any treatment is even discussed, they scan your face in 3D, photograph it and walk you through what’s actually happening to your facial structure — bone, fat, volume, harmony — so you understand what you’re working with before you make any decisions.

We also get into what’s really happening to the face over time, the treatments that work with your own biology rather than against it, why biostimulators are having such a moment right now and what an educated approach to ageing well actually looks like.

I had the consultation myself before we recorded and it completely changed how I think about my own face.

What makes one aesthetic clinic feel different from another?

For Dr Maude, it comes down to philosophy.

She joined Ouronyx because our approach goes beyond treatments. We take the time to understand the person behind the consultation, combining science, technology and artistry to create personalised plans that respect each individual’s identity.

No trends. No templates. Just thoughtful care designed around you.

Because the best results don’t change who you are. They help you feel more like yourself.

Aesthetic medicine should never be about chasing a different face.

For Dr Maude, it’s about understanding what has shifted in the skin, the structure, and the way someone feels in themselves and restoring it with intention.

That’s why her approach aligns so closely with Mindful Aesthetics: thoughtful, personalised care designed to support identity, not change it.

Because the best results are the ones that still feel like you.

A statement worth unpacking, because it speaks to something I feel strongly about.

Fillers are not a single product. They differ in G prime (structural firmness), cohesivity, degree of cross-linking and elasticity. These properties determine where each filler belongs in the face, how it interacts with movement, and how it behaves in the tissue over time. A filler engineered to lift and support the cheek is not the same product as one designed to sit softly in the lips. Using them interchangeably is a clinical decision, and is rarely the right one.

But the product is still only part of the picture.

Injection plane matters enormously. The correct depth for one area is wrong for another, and placing filler in the wrong plane affects both appearance and safety in ways that aren’t always immediately apparent. Anatomy matters too: understanding the individual face, its natural proportions and the structures beneath the skin is what separates a clinical approach from a cosmetic one. And technique matters throughout: how much is used, how it’s placed, and whether the natural movement of the face is respected.

Filler done well is subtle. It looks like a well-rested, healthier version of you. Filler done poorly, regardless of product quality, looks like filler.

The difference lies in understanding. Of anatomy. Of product science. And of the individual sitting in front of you.

SkinVive is one of the most misunderstood treatments in aesthetics right now, partly because it doesn't sit neatly within any existing category, and partly because its results are intentionally subtle.

In my experience, subtle is rarely a compromise. Often, it's the entire point.

SkinVive uses very small amounts of hyaluronic acid, placed extremely superficially within the skin itself, rather than beneath it. The goal isn't to add volume or alter facial structure. It works by improving hydration within the skin, smoothing surface texture, and changing how light reflects off the skin, producing a more luminous, even quality that reads as health rather than intervention.

Think: better skin. Not a different face.

Where I find it most valuable is as part of a longer-term approach to skin health: investing in the quality and resilience of the skin itself, rather than simply treating what's visible on the surface. It won't turn back the clock dramatically. But for the right patient, the improvement in how their skin looks and feels day-to-day is genuinely meaningful.

Whether it's right for you is a question for a consultation, where we look at the whole picture rather than the treatment in isolation.
