POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This story is designed to show that black men are dynamic and not limited to the societal perceptions placed upon them. We aim to elevate diversity, expose hardships, and reveal the power that resides within us all; The power to surpass all barriers and realize our true potential for greatness.

This is a call to action. It is a message to all ages of the black male and others alike who acknowledge that things aren’t easy. If we can control the plot and the narrative, the story of our lives will be filled with honor, purpose, and success.
I’m thankful to God and all my brothers that made this happen

Your application strategy needs to match what you’re looking for. How do you know where your application is of use?
•
Quite frankly i think medicine is the only profession where you have to pay to apply! Dont even get me started 😂
•
Any way, being on a budget means we have to be smart to submit applications where they will be evaluated at the best chance for awarding an interview.
•
Check out the website and just look around
•
2 weeks till submission!

Godspeed

If you’re applying for Match 2027, I KNOW you have “submission scaries”. 😂

A few things I’d make sure you have handled NOW:
•
1. Get your LORs.
Follow up, and make sure your letter writers have everything they need.
•
2. Start FINALIZING your program list.
Don’t just apply because you recognize the name.
Ask yourself:

•Am I compatible with this program?
•How many programs should I apply to?
•Is this actually a good fit for me?

I used @matcharesident during my application cycle to help build my program list. You can create lists across specialties, look at compatibility scores, and be much more intentional about where you apply. Discount code “Drsneakk”

3. Revisit your personal statement.
Does it actually sound like you?
Does it tell your story?

Get someone you trust to read it. Then get someone else to read it. (Attendings, Residents, i’ve read a ton!)
•

Because at the end of the day:
Residency is the goal. The goal is to MATCH.

You’ve put years into getting here. Put everything you have into the application.

Applying Match 2027 and have questions about your program list, personal statement, or application strategy

Hit me ✨

Welcome to my research years. What does that even mean? I have some time to explain it while simultaneously cleaning out my photo/video vault. In short- im taking time to move the needle in other areas of my life.

This medical journey has been so demanding…i’ve missed birthdays, weddings, births, vacations, lunches, sleeps to this very pursuit of becoming a surgeon. Yet in my unavailability, my community has been so supportive and has consistently loved me through it. I remember making a promise to myself once residency started that i will do my best, and God willing, i was able to make this wedding of one of my first childhood best friends, in the land of Nigeria 🇳🇬. I laughed so much, got to see family, ate to my content and danced like no tomorrow! I definitely will cherish these moments when im getting slammed in the trauma bay, ICU or Operating room lol.
.
Heres to doing my best not to miss anymore important events for people i care about. 💪🏿🫶🏿✨
