She’s here 🩷

In June we welcomed our darling daughter, she’s stolen our hearts completely and we’re utterly obsessed with her 😍

I had so many intentions of documenting pregnancy and I do have some videos ready to go but I won’t lie moving house in third trimester really took it out of me. I chose to prioritise rest and nesting 🫶

I have so many things I want to share about my experience and I’ll get there in time, however I’m currently writing this at 4am while pumping and bebe is asleep, so who knows when that time will be 😅

Life lately 🏡🤰🏻🫶

I feel so lucky and grateful that we were able to buy our first house and get moved in before the bebe arrives. We love it and even though we’ve still got a lot to sort and we may still be sitting on camping chairs but it already feels like home ❤️

I won’t lie, moving in third trimester was tough and I didn’t anticipate how challenging it would be physically, emotionally and mentally. Despite being so happy and excited to be in and for the soon arrival of our baby, there have been many a wobble and that’s ok ❤️

I’m ready for the nesting to commence 🐣

I left academic research after 8 years… and ended up somewhere I didn’t even know existed 🤯

I now work in commercialisation & IP licensing, a research-adjacent role that sits between research and real-world impact 💪

It’s changed how I think about research, careers, and what “impact” actually looks like outside the lab 🧪

A pinch me moment 😆

I had the absolute pleasure to be invited to the No.10 Reception for London Life Sciences Week. I was given the incredible opportunity to chat with and interview some of the top names in the Life Sciences sector and ask them what’s exciting them in science and tech right now 🤩

Highlights include, using AI to improve and streamline the drug discovery process, a push for personalised medicine and strong focus on disease prevention. It’s an exciting time for Life Sciences here in the UK, I came away feeling inspired about the future of science and tech 🧪👩🏻‍💻

Quite a big pinch me moment for a small town girl from the north of England that wanted to be a scientist and presenter! 🤩

🌝 I QUIT MY POST-DOC 🌝

Hello again, long time no speak… I had a lot of figuring out to do!

For those of you who stuck around, thank you and welcome back!!

As some of you know, I went to the US for a research placement last year, and that began the journey of me figuring out whether academic research is actually for me. It turns out it’s probably not, and that’s ok.

I do have a new job that I’m enjoying (more on that later), and I’m learning to remove work or my profession from my identity. It’s a process, but we move 💪

All this to say, I ~think~ I want to start sharing and creating content again, I feel the creative juices flowing, and I’d like to try again!😬

Social media moves very quickly, and after almost a year out of the game, I’m starting to feel like an internet grandma, so please bear with me as I get back into the swing of things 🤪
