It took me 7 years to learn one truth that changed everything…

When I finally got it,
I became a Conference Champion.
An All-American.
A Pro.

And it had NOTHING to do with talent.

Here it is:

Most people don’t fail because they lack skill…
They fail because their mind gets hijacked.

Pressure hits → doubt creeps in
Expectations rise → focus drifts
One mistake → spiral

That’s reactive intelligence.
And it silently destroys performance.

The best don’t just train their body…
They train their mind to stay locked in, composed, and in control when it matters most.

That’s why we built MOTYV8.

A system designed to help athletes:
• Eliminate mental interference
• Stay present under pressure
• Build real, measurable mental strength

Because performance isn’t just about what you can do…
It’s about what your mind allows you to do when it matters most.

Train it. Wire it. Unlock it.

The most important mental skill to develop is not anything you have ever heard of.

Not goal setting
Not visualization
Not mindfulness
Not emotional regulation

Don’t get me wrong, all those are good and needed but not the most important.

You see, when you are performing on the court that is what you are doing every point or every play, you are making decisions the whole time.

In the book wiring intelligence I write about how you rewire your mind to make great decisions. Along with how to wire in true mental strength.

If you are someone who wants to regain control over your mind then check out the book. It is available on Amazon.

Most people don't fail because they lack talent, or discipline. They fail because their mind gets hijacked by thinking patterns they never chose.

Rewiring my mind, and my thoughts, changed my whole life. It changed my athletic career, it changed my academic career. I apply these skills every day now with my family, my faith and my business.

I wrote the book Wiring Intelligence to give back to athletes, parents, coaches, executives or really anyone who wants to regain control over their thoughts and emotions, and rewire their mind to be confident, focused, resilient, and motivated.

3 Skills That Can Change Pressure Into Performance

Pressure doesn’t automatically lead to poor performance. More often, pressure exposes the mental skills you’ve trained, or haven’t trained.

1. Focus
Develop the ability to direct your attention toward the tasks that help you perform, not the distractions that pull you away from your best.

2. Self-Belief
Strengthen your belief that you can perform at your best, anywhere, anytime, regardless of the circumstances around you.

3. Emotional Regulation
Learn to calm your mind and body through your inner voice and your breath so you can stay composed when the stakes are high.

The athletes who perform under pressure aren’t different. They’ve simply trained different skills.

Pressure doesn’t create champions. It reveals your wired patterns.

Nerves before competition are normal.

Your mind and body are preparing for something important. The problem is not the nerves themselves… the problem is when your mind becomes reactive and the nerves begin interfering with your performance.

Most athletes try to “stop being nervous.”
That usually makes it worse.

Instead, train yourself to interrupt the reactive patterns.

Here are 4 powerful ways to regain control under pressure:

1. Change your language.
Your words shape your mental state.

Instead of saying:
“What if I fail?”
“What if I mess up?”

Shift your language to:
“I’m ready.”
“I’m excited.”
“I’ve trained for this.”

Your brain responds to the thoughts and language you repeatedly feed it.

2. Slow down your movement.
When athletes get nervous, they often rush.

They speed up their movements, thinking, and decisions.
That tension creates mistakes.

Move with control. Stay smooth. Stay composed.
Slowing your body down helps calm the nervous system and lower your heart rate.

3. Take deep breaths.
Deep breathing is one of the fastest ways to regulate the nervous system.

A few slow breaths can calm anxiety, reduce tension, and help you regain focus in the moment.

4. Smile.
 Yes, smile.

Smiling relaxes the body, reduces stress responses, and signals safety to the brain. It helps shift the body out of fight-or-flight mode and into a more proactive performance state.

Stephen Curry does this at the free throw line all the time.

Relaxed athletes perform better than tense athletes.

The goal is not to eliminate intensity.
The goal is to stay proactive and controlled under pressure.

Because when the mind is trained correctly, pressure stops feeling like a threat… and starts becoming an opportunity. by @drbobbylow

Pressure Reveals our Wired Patterns.

There is nothing about the external environment that actually creates pressure.

The football field is 100 yards.
The track is 400 meters
The basketball rim is 10 feet.

These are the same environments that we are in when we train, and compete. If the environment really created pressure then we would feel pressure every time we step into these environments, but we don't feel that.

So what does this mean? It means that pressure is something we create in our mind. We are the ones that build up the super bowl to be this big event, or an Olympic final to be this high pressure environment, and when we do that and then step out onto the field or the mountain. What ever patters we have trained the most will automatically come out.

This is why it is so critical to train the mind before we get to those big moments so that the automatic response is proactive instead of reactive. by @drbobbylow

Most people don’t fail because they lack talent.

They fail because their mind gets hijacked in the moments that matter most.

Pressure hits…
Doubt creeps in…
Focus drifts…
And suddenly, you’re not performing at the level you know you’re capable of.

I spent years studying and working with elite performers to understand why.

The answer is simple:

High performers don’t think better by accident…
They train their mind to operate differently under pressure.

That’s what Wiring Intelligence is about.

It gives you the framework to:
• Eliminate the mental interference that holds you back
• Build the mental strengths required to stay locked in
• Perform with consistency when it matters most

This isn’t motivation.
This is training.

If you’re serious about unlocking your performance, this is where it starts.

The mind is always predicting the future.

If it sees uncertainty, it will activate fear which puts us in a reactive mind.

If it sees certainty, it will activate belief, then it will put us in a proactive mind.

The best part is, we can choose our own self belief and intentionally put ourselves in a proactive mind.

We do this by choosing our thoughts and words to occupy our mind. Strong “I Can” words create Belief.

We spend our lives training our bodies…
but almost no time training our minds.

So what happens?

We fall into the same traps,
self-doubt, distraction, fear, indecision,
and say “that’s just how I am.”

It’s not,

It’s how you’ve been wired.

And anything wired… can be rewired.

That’s the foundation of Wiring Intelligence.

Which trap shows up for you the most?

Motivation and Discipline are not enemies. One leads to the other.

This clip went absolutely viral. "I don't have motivation, I have discipline."

It sounds awesome, like a quote straight from a Rocky movie. But it is not actually accurate. The reality is motivation is the love for your sport and it leads to strong discipline.

This boxer loves his sport and loves the feeling of landing a clean punch for a TKO. That is what he is chasing. That is the motivation, if he did not love it, he would not demonstrate discipline.

If you want to train your mind to have this kind of motivation.
