Kihei Akina gritted out 72 holes, sank 18 birdies, and beat guys like Brian Harman and Jason Day at the Wyndham Championship. His total payout? Exactly $0.00.

The BYU Cougar product proved he belongs on the PGA Tour, even if the USGA rules won't let him collect a check.

Ever wonder why talented people still freeze when the stakes are high? 🧠

It’s not a lack of discipline or desire. It’s because under pressure, your brain defaults to reactive patterns: fear, doubt, and avoidance.

Today I spotlight "Wiring Intelligence" by Dr. Bobby Low, a game-changing guide to retraining your mind for peak performance. Learn the 8 essential mindsets used by elite athletes to shift from reactive panic to proactive control.

Doc stopped into day to work with the Academy. One of our commitments to Athletes and Parents was that we would connect their athletes with the best experts in the core disciplines for their development. Doc will begin working with all our Athletes, 🏀 ⚽️ 🏐 and giving them tools for mental performance. We’re so excited to have him and his team working with the Academy. Lucky Kids!

I’ve worked with Doc both for myself and my own performance as a Coach and Father, and I’ve seen first hand the impact his work has on elite Athletes and their performance. More to share on that in future videos

Today Doc introduce some basics, and we gave the kids access to his App @motyv8_app where they’ll spend a lot of time learning and practicing their mental skills. Empowering them for years to come as Athletes and world changers.

Thanks Doc for your time, and for all you’re doing for the next gen of Athletes! We’re so excited to work with you.

One of the hardest transitions for elite athletes happens after sport.
Years of training create high confidence and mastery in one skill.
Decision making feels automatic.
Belief is earned through repetition.
Then the transition happens.
And suddenly, everything resets.
The skills that once felt elite are now undeveloped in a new arena.
Confidence drops.
Competence feels far away.
Transition means becoming a beginner again.
Studying.
Learning.
Building from the ground up.
That identity shift is often the hardest part.

There is no single right energy level.
Some athletes perform best fired up.
Others perform best calm and neutral.
The key is not the emotion itself.
The key is control.
High anger can trigger fight or flight.
That response increases stress, tension, and anxiety.
When that happens, performance drops.
Peak performance lives in the middle.
Physiologically relaxed.
Mentally activated.
Fully dialed in 🧠
Too calm leads to underperformance.
Too emotional leads to tension.
Find the energy that works for you.

Mental strength starts with understanding the mind.
You can’t build it without knowing how it works.
How to use it as a tool.
How to control it.
How to shape it.
For a long time, the mind was believed to be fixed.
Recent neuroscience shows that isn’t true.
The brain is plastic.
It can adapt.
It can grow.
It can learn at any age 🧠
Mental strength is trainable.

The brain has a grit muscle.
When hard things are done consistently, that muscle grows.
Grit isn’t built by talking about toughness.
It’s built by choosing discomfort.
By doing things that feel frustrating, slow, and imperfect.
Hard work strengthens the mind just like training strengthens the body 🧠
Mental skills aren’t meant to be random tools.
They work best when they’re organized, connected, and intentional.
Do hard things.
That’s how grit is built 💪

Mental strength is often the true differentiator.
Physical gifts matter.
Speed matters.
Ability matters.
But without mental training, those skills can stay locked away.
When the reactive part of the brain takes over,
decision making, problem solving, memory, and emotional control disappear.
The body is capable.
The mind is hijacked.
Training the mind is what unlocks performance 🧠
That’s the piece that changes everything 💪
